Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Markus Matthews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Evgeny Tolmachev!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tolmachev tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Matthews defends well and Tolmachev ends up having to push Matthews into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Tolmachev dives in for a single leg takedown but Matthews sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Tolmachev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Matthews's waist but Matthews gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tolmachev off to one side.
Markus Matthews has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Evgeny Tolmachev.
Tolmachev goes for a double leg but Matthews avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Matthews continues to drive forward.

Tolmachev moves into range and clinches up with Matthews.
Matthews has had enough of the clinch but Tolmachev keeps him there for the moment.
Matthews goes for a takedown attempt but Tolmachev pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tolmachev is looking to reverse the position.

Matthews is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Tolmachev sees it coming and defends easily.

Tolmachev wants to clinch.
Tolmachev tries a head kick but it misses.
Matthews tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tolmachev swats him away and circles back towards the center.
As Matthews backs off Tolmachev throws a huge counter combo but Matthews manages to avoid it all.
Tolmachev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Matthews as he jumps to the side.
Matthews throws a nice head kick!

Matthews closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Matthews manages to break the clinch.
Tolmachev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Matthews shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tolmachev sprawls well. Tolmachev wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Matthews gets slowly back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Matthews stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Matthews wants it to stay on the feet.

Tolmachev escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Matthews gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Matthews looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Tolmachev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Tolmachev has one foot on Matthews's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Tolmachev lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Matthews circles away quickly and effectively.

Matthews gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tolmachev is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Matthews to keep the fight standing.

Tolmachev manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Tolmachev swings around for an armbar but Matthews sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Tolmachev's guard.

Tolmachev is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Matthews is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Tolmachev wants to get up but he can't break Matthews's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Tolmachev slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Matthews is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tolmachev can do to turn this around?
Tolmachev throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Matthews works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Matthews tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Tolmachev fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Matthews, pushing him back against the cage.

Matthews is fighting off a takedown attempt but Tolmachev is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Matthews to the mat. Matthews regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Evgeny Tolmachev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Matthews has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
