PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Miroslav Walker (ranked 3536 p4p, 427 weight class) and Bruno Javier Jimenez (ranked 3617 p4p, 434 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miroslav Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bruno Javier Jimenez!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jimenez sprawls well initially but Walker persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jimenez manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Walker keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the ropes.
Jimenez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Miroslav Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno Javier Jimenez.
Walker tries to land knees in the clinch but Jimenez avoids the damage to the body.

Walker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Walker feints and as Jimenez raises his hands in defense, Walker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Jimenez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Walker off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Walker wants to control from the top but Jimenez keeps moving.
Walker slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Walker tightens his grip and picks Jimenez up, before dumping him to the ground. Jimenez manages to land in guard.

Walker sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jimenez's guard.
Walker wants to advance to full mount but Jimenez doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Walker wants to stand and escape but instead Jimenez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Bruno Javier Jimenez will probably get the nod - 10:9.
