Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimi Powell (ranked 444 p4p, 13 weight class) and Lock Bresnar (ranked 1214 p4p, 41 weight class). Powell comes to the cage accompanied by 8 Mile. Bresnar is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by ABOVE THE LAW - murder rap. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 15 - 2, fighting out of New York, Jimi Powell! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 17 - 1, fighting out of New York, Lock Bresnar! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bresnar will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A nice combination there by Bresnar.
Powell defending well as Bresnar loads up on a big left hand. Both fighters circling a little - Powell finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. A big left from Bresnar misses. Bresnar digs a good body shot into Powell's ribs. Powell scores with a jab to the jaw. Powell defending well as Bresnar loads up on a big left hand. Bresnar throws a right hand that misses
and Powell counters with a lovely straight right hand! Powell scores with a kick to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bresnar scores with a body shot.
Bresnar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A little feinted left hand from Powell on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Bresnar stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Powell. Bresnar throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Powell sees it coming and avoids it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bresnar swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Powell feinted with a counter takedown. Bresnar shoots for a double leg takedown but Powell sprawls well. He's pushed Bresnar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Powell takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Bresnar throws a good cross that connects.
A lazy left from Powell finds it's target. Bresnar pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Powell throws a counter high kick but Bresnar was just alert enough to avoid it. Powell tries for a takedown but Bresnar circles away easily and Bresnar counters with a takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Powell gets back to half guard. Bresnar not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Powell is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Big Bear Fight Factory, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Bresnar seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Bresnar tries to pass the half guard into mount. Powell knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Powell manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Powell is adopting a defensive guard. Bresnar told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Bresnar throws a big elbow that misses. Bresnar preventing the sweep. Bresnar throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Powell keeping moving, preventing Bresnar from controlling successfully. Powell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bresnar is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Bresnar throws a big right hand that misses. Bresnar working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Bresnar throwing strikes but missing. Bresnar throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Bresnar wants to control from the top but Powell keeps moving.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Powell misses with a straight right. Bresnar rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Powell counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bresnar misses with a few strikes there.
Nice straight punches there by Powell. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Powell. Bresnar throws a body shot but no joy. Bresnar misses with a looping right. Bresnar throws a nice looking combination but Powell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. It looked like Powell wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Powell lands with a nice body kick. Bresnar throws the left hand but Powell avoids the punch easily. Powell throws a lazy head kick and Bresnar counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bresnar won't allow Powell to get back to his feet. Powell preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Bresnar trying to control the position from guard on top but Powell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bresnar is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Powell is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Powell has escaped and now he's on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lock Bresnar dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Bresnar lands with an uppercut that bounces Powell off the cage and back into range. Powell misses with an uppercut. Bresnar swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Powell tries to clinch up. Bresnar misses with a looping right. Lock Bresnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Powell misses with a head kick.
Lock Bresnar seems to be getting the better of the standup. Bresnar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Powell moves into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Powell lands an uppercut. Powell lands a body shot in the clinch.
Powell is leaning against Bresnar and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Bresnar's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Bresnar is breathing heavily. Powell scores with a nice hook to the head. A body shot lands from Powell.
That's one minute gone in the round. Powell lands with a right to the head. Powell lands a right hand. Powell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bresnar displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Powell throws out the jab. Bresnar moves away from the strike by Powell. Bresnar walks into a left hand. Powell lands the left hand. Good shot there by Bresnar. Powell throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bresnar on the side of the head. Bresnar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Powell with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Powell walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Bresnar drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Powell swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Bresnar's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
