Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Siva Tavau (ranked 2588 p4p, 292 weight class) and Mountain Rivera (ranked 9444 p4p, 0 weight class). Tavau comes to the cage accompanied by In the Air Tonight. Siva Tavau could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mountain Rivera's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Siva Tavau! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
32 - 88 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mountain Rivera! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tavau closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Rivera is trying to drag Tavau to the mat but Tavau just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Tavau has Rivera pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Tavau pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rivera tumbling to the mat - Tavau dives into Rivera's guard. Tavau in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Tavau postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tavau accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Tavau is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Tavau with a flurry of punches that miss. Tavau working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Tavau throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Tavau in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Tavau postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Tavau is looking to work some ground and pound but Rivera has wrist control. Tavau throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Tavau wants to pass the guard but Rivera is keeping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tavau with a nice head shot there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tavau loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Tavau throws a strike but Rivera rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Tavau is trying to control the position but Rivera postures up. Tavau has his foot on Rivera's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rivera works his way back into a safe position though. Tavau escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rivera gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rivera throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tavau is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rivera must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rivera is looking to work some ground and pound but Tavau has wrist control. Tavau preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Tavau has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rivera accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Rivera postures up in Tavau's guard and throws a big left but Tavau blocks it. Tavau bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rivera's guard. Tavau sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rivera's guard. Tavau scoring with strikes to the body and head. This has been an exciting period of action! Tavau winds up and cracks Rivera with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Tavau throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Tavau is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rivera doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tavau. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rivera can do anything to dispel that myth. Rivera wants to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tavau throwing shots but Rivera is blocking nicely. Rivera gets full guard. Tavau is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rivera is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rivera has escaped and now he's on top!
Tavau had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rivera defends it easily. Rivera has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Tavau to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Rivera is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Tavau pulls down on the head and he's put Rivera to sleep! This one is all over!
