Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Bates (ranked 3877 p4p, 413 weight class) and Joe Sixpack (ranked 6223 p4p, 599 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Bates! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Sixpack! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sixpack shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bates but Bates pushes him off and we're back to square one. Sixpack tries a head kick but it misses.
Bates could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Sixpack tries to sprawl but Bates drives through with a takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Bates is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bates stops Sixpack from getting back to his feet.
Bates will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Sixpack tries to get to full guard but Bates has control of the leg. It looks like Bates is going to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bates is thwarting Sixpack's attempts to control the position. Sixpack wants to improve his position but Bates is controlling well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Bates misses with the combination.
Sixpack is trying to counter with his kicks. Bates closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sixpack's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bates passes into side control, despite Sixpack's attempt to control the position.

Sixpack is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Sixpack can't do much from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bates tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bates has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Bates controls the position. Sixpack can't do much from the bottom here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sixpack being controlled for a moment.

Sixpack fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Sixpack tries to sprawl but Bates drives through with a takedown into half guard. Bates wants to get back to his feet.

Sixpack is looking to improve his position but Bates isn't that keen on the idea. Bates is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sixpack is surviving well by controlling Bates's body position as best he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bates controlling the position easily from mount. Bates looking for a guillotine from mount but Sixpack is having none of it. Bates with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Bates trying to control but he's not successful this time. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sixpack can do anything to dispel that myth. Sixpack is trying to escape the mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bates is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sixpack to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sixpack shrugs it off. Sixpack is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Bates content just to control the position here. Sixpack defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Bates. Sixpack tries to lock up and control but Bates gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sixpack taking shots to the head. Bates is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sixpack can do to turn this around? Sixpack working to try and regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sixpack tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bates paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sixpack keeps the fight on the outside. Sixpack fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Bates takes the fight into the clinch. Bates has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Sixpack clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Bates lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. I really don't envy Sixpack right now.
Bates is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Sixpack defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Sixpack is trying to get back to his feet but Bates has full control of the position and if anything, Sixpack has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Sixpack is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Bates.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Bates looking for the choke from the back. Sixpack is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

And that's the end of the fight! Bob Bates showed his dominance in that final round. Well Bates has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
