Ricket has chosen One Foot as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Ricket!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ricket avoids the head kick by Hawkins.
A head kick misses from Ricket.
Ricket throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Hawkins.


It looks like Frances Hawkins has been cut.
Ricardo Ricket seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hawkins tries to close the distance and clinch but Ricket swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ricket clinches up with Hawkins and pushes him back against the cage.
Hawkins stalling in the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Ricket.
Hawkins misses with a body punch.

Ricket's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ricket misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A head kick misses from Ricket.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ricket tries a head kick but it misses.
Ricket rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hawkins moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ricket lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ricket throws a sloppy head kick and Hawkins moves out of range easily.
Hawkins doesn't manage to clinch there - Ricket circles away.

Ricket shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Hawkins throws a head kick that misses.
Hawkins throws a hook but Ricket blocks it.
Hawkins blocks a head kick by Ricket.
Hawkins seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Ricket lands a high kick!

Hawkins pushes Ricket up against the cage in a clinch.
Hawkins really is a fat lump.
Ricket misses with some punches.

Ricket manages to break the clinch.
Ricket throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hawkins blocks a head kick by Ricket.
Hawkins slips a jab from Ricket.
A head kick misses from Ricket.
Hawkins will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hawkins has a takedown stuffed.

Hawkins throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ricket throws a counter combo.
Hawkins ducks under a wild hook from Ricket.
As Ricket tries to get set, Hawkins tries to push him back and clinch up but Ricket manages to avoid the attempt.
Ricket throws a sloppy head kick and Hawkins moves out of range easily.
A head kick by Ricket misses
and Hawkins counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hawkins wants to clinch up but Ricket keeps it at a distance.
A little jabbing left from Ricket on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ricket lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


Hawkins is rocked!
Look low, kick high! Ricket uses the oldest trick in the book to send Hawkins tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Ricket is absolutely delighted - when Hawkins wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ricardo Ricket!
Ricardo Ricket spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
