Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shannon Craig (ranked 23871 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yusuf Mehadi (ranked 5738 p4p, 539 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Mehadi's choice of entrance music: BONEZ MC & RAF CAMORA - PALMEN AUS GOLD. Shannon Craig has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shannon Craig! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yusuf Mehadi! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mehadi misses with a hook. Craig ducked under it nicely. Mehadi lands a really nice looking cross but Craig seems unphased.

and Craig holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Mehadi misses with some punches.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Craig accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Craig throws a big elbow that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Craig landing with the ground and pound. Mehadi has Craig pulled in close to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Craig drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Craig jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Craig lands a couple of digs. Mehadi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Craig will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Craig throws a strike but Mehadi rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Craig is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Craig looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Craig throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Mehadi to regain full guard. Craig drops back for a leg! Mehadi wants to stand and escape but instead Craig has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Craig postures up in Mehadi's guard and throws a big left but Mehadi blocks it. Mehadi working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Craig.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Mehadi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Craig's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Craig throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Craig accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Craig throwing strikes from guard but Mehadi blocks nicely. Craig gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mehadi tries a head kick but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Yusuf Mehadi will probably get the nod. That's time! Craig's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Craig counters by moving into the clinch. Mehadi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Craig displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mehadi. Craig seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Craig moves forwards but Mehadi connects with a nice, crisp jab. A head kick by Mehadi misses and Craig moves into the clinch. Craig really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Mehadi swings away with an uppercut that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Craig stops a takedown attempt from Mehadi.
Mehadi is looking to break free of the clinch but Craig has double underhooks. Craig stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Craig jumps into guard, dragging Mehadi to the mat.
Mehadi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Craig is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Craig has escaped and now he's on top!
Craig drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mehadi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Craig has Mehadi in his guard.
Shannon Craig overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Craig lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Craig throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Craig is working Mehadi over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Craig drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mehadi dives on top into guard. Mehadi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Craig is proving hard to escape from. Craig looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Craig pulls Mehadi in close to prevent any damage. Craig will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Craig is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Mehadi tries to roll over but Craig keeps him under control. Mehadi avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Craig. Craig has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Craig is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Craig missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mehadi regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Craig. Craig throwing strikes but missing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shannon Craig dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Craig shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mehadi pinned against the cage. Mehadi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Mehadi, as that shot connected.
Mehadi scores with a punch to the head. Craig gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Mehadi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Craig defends well and Mehadi ends up having to push Craig into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Good shot there by Mehadi. Mehadi throws a head kick that misses. Craig half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mehadi shoots for a takedown but Craig saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Craig drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Mehadi scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mehadi throws an ugly left hook that misses

That's one minute gone in the round. Craig has clasped his hands together around Mehadi's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Mehadi tries to buck Craig off but Craig is having none of it. Craig throws a strike aimed at the side of Mehadi's head but Mehadi avoids it well. You can see the frustration on Mehadi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mehadi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mehadi regains half guard, as Craig was trying to land strikes. Craig is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mehadi sees it coming and defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Craig thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Craig is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mehadi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Craig postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mehadi is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Craig, into his guard.
Craig wriggles free and stands up. Mehadi pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Craig ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Craig no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Craig controlling Mehadi's posture. Mehadi trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Craig manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
