Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Derk Furkinson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Furkinson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Diaz looking for submissions off his back.
Diaz keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diaz looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Diaz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz has his foot on Furkinson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Furkinson works his way back into a safe position though.
Diaz is pulling down on Furkinson's head to control his posture.

Diaz is looking for a triangle but Furkinson pushes his legs off easily.

Diaz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Furkinson defends it easily.

Diaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Furkinson is aware though and is defending well.
Furkinson passes Diaz's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Diaz is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Furkinson pulls his head out easily.
Diaz is pressing down on Furkinson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Diaz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Furkinson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Diaz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Diaz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Diaz pulls Furkinson in close to his closed guard and prevents Furkinson from doing any damage or advancing position.
Furkinson wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.

Furkinson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Diaz is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Diaz has escaped and now he's on top!

Diaz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Diaz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Furkinson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Diaz controls the pace.
Diaz working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Furkinson's head.

Diaz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Diaz slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Diaz creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Furkinson is rocked!
Diaz lands a big elbow and you can see that really hurt Furkinson! Diaz senses the opportunity and scores with more strikes - he's put Furkinson out! The ref tackles him out of the way to prevent him landing more strikes - this one is all over!
