PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alonzo Trotter (ranked 2805 p4p, 352 weight class) and Patryk Szczerbiec (ranked 8254 p4p, 712 weight class). Patryk Szczerbiec struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 172.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Alonzo Trotter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alonzo Trotter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 38 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Patryk Szczerbiec!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trotter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Szczerbiec moves away.
Trotter stuns Szczerbiec with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Szczerbiec with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Szczerbiec tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Trotter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
We've been told by Trotter's head coaches at Midnight MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Szczerbiec throws a big shot that misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Trotter misses the target.
Szczerbiec throws a leg kick
and Trotter counters with a stiff right hand.
Szczerbiec has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Szczerbiec there as he acknowledges the shot.

Trotter scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Szczerbiec takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Trotter is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Szczerbiec knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Szczerbiec is rocked!

Trotter trying to control the position but Szczerbiec is working away.
Trotter throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Szczerbiec takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Szczerbiec is still in real trouble! Can Trotter finish him?
An elbow from Trotter crashes against the mat.
Szczerbiec seems to have recovered his senses.
The ground and pound from Trotter seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Trotter working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Szczerbiec is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Szczerbiec wants to control but Trotter postures up.

Trotter tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Trotter throwing strikes but Szczerbiec manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Trotter is looking to regain half guard here but Szczerbiec keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Szczerbiec wants to stand but Trotter has his arm trapped.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Trotter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Szczerbiec wants to lay and pray for a moment but Trotter keeps working.
Trotter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Trotter sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Szczerbiec tries to stand and escape but Trotter is controlling the position.
Trotter tries to get to full guard but Szczerbiec has control of the leg.
Szczerbiec tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Trotter.
Szczerbiec is just content to waste time from the top position. Trotter takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Szczerbiec looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Szczerbiec wants to stand and escape but instead Trotter has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Trotter landing some decent shots from guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Trotter trying to control the position from guard on top but Szczerbiec is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trotter takes a swing at Szczerbiec's ribcage but misses.
Szczerbiec on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Patryk Szczerbiec seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Trotter lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Trotter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Szczerbiec thinking.
Szczerbiec throws a lazy uppercut
and Trotter makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Szczerbiec takes one to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Trotter scores with a hook to the body. Szczerbiec takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Szczerbiec tries to clinch but Trotter moves out of range.
Trotter half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Trotter has a takedown stuffed.
Trotter ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Szczerbiec is breathing heavily.
Good standup being displayed there by Trotter as he connects with a hook.
Szczerbiec takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Szczerbiec misses with a body punch
and Trotter counters with a big right hand! Oh Szczerbiec is in trouble here! Trotter follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alonzo Trotter!
