Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronnie Barnhardt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simo Silppuri! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnhardt throws a jab but it's blocked by Silppuri. Silppuri closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Silppuri trying to control the position but Barnhardt is working away. Barnhardt wants to control but Silppuri postures up. Barnhardt gets back to half guard. Silppuri wants to control but Barnhardt is keeping him busy. Barnhardt moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silppuri has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Barnhardt is proving hard to escape from. Silppuri looking to pass the guard. Silppuri trying to control but Barnhardt is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silppuri stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barnhardt swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Silppuri drives through with a takedown into guard. Silppuri tries to free his leg and advance position but Barnhardt is retaining full guard. Silppuri avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Silppuri trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Barnhardt controls Silppuri momentarily but Silppuri frees himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barnhardt working for a triangle but Silppuri defends it easily.

Barnhardt has his foot on Silppuri's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silppuri works his way back into a safe position though. Silppuri's corner is telling him to maintain position. Barnhardt is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Silppuri rolls with it to try and escape but Barnhardt cranks on the arm and Silppuri is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
