Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rauli Raunio (ranked 1652 p4p, 231 weight class) and Jamezdin Shraf (ranked 1804 p4p, 255 weight class). Shraf has chosen Road To Glory as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rauli Raunio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jamezdin Shraf!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raunio walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Shraf keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Shraf shoots in looking for a takedown but Raunio manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shraf's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Raunio swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Raunio misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shraf.
Raunio thows a left - swing and a miss!
Raunio takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Shraf with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Raunio to score with a decent uppercut.

Raunio displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shraf throws out the jab.
Raunio stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Raunio wants it to stay on the feet.

We've been hearing good reports from Raunio's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Raunio has his hands clasped together around Shraf's back. He's all about the action.
Shraf is looking to take a break and control but Raunio is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Shraf seems to be working for a kimura but Raunio defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Raunio is looking to control Shraf's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Raunio avoid being mounted?

A close round but Jamezdin Shraf will probably get the nod.

Raunio ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Raunio lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Raunio fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shraf looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Shraf takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A decent looking cross lands there for Shraf.

Shraf misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Shraf avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Raunio is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Shraf might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Raunio scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Shraf doesn't seem bothered though.

Raunio loads up on a big right hand but Shraf slips the punch.
Raunio throws an overhand right that lands on Shraf's shoulder, as Shraf tries to avoid the shot.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Shraf! But no joy.

Shraf shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Shraf was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Shraf is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Raunio knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Shraf is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Raunio still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Raunio has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
