Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Micalinni (ranked 2911 p4p, 371 weight class) and James Gregor (ranked 4563 p4p, 541 weight class). James Gregor has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Micalinni! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Gregor! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gregor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gregor throws out a loose jab but Micalinni uses good head movement to avoid it. Gregor loads up on a big right hand but Micalinni slips the punch. Micalinni tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Gregor looks to land a combination but Micalinni avoids it well. Gregor misses with a wild combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Micalinni has Gregor up against the cage in a clinch.
Micalinni is trying to pull guard but Gregor turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Gregor looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gregor escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gregor throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Gregor jabbing away but nothing is landing. A little feinted left hand from Micalinni on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Micalinni takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Micalinni misses the jab. Gregor tries to bum rush Micalinni with a series of wild strikes but Micalinni uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Gregor gets tackled into the cage by Micalinni. Micalinni maintains the clinch. Gregor has hold of one of Micalinni's legs. Micalinni is fighting the takedown attempt but Gregor gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Micalinni manages to escape and get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gregor drops Micalinni with a right and a left! Gregor comes rushing in but Micalinni regains his composure and manages to keep Gregor in guard.
Micalinni is rocked! Micalinni working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gregor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Micalinni is tightening it up a little... Gregor has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Gregor reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Gregor taps out! Nice BJJ there by Micalinni!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Sam Micalinni!
