Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Samoa Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dixon Ermouth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dixon Ermouth will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Samoa Joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dixon Ermouth!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ermouth doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Dixon Ermouth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Joe looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Joe lands a couple of elbows.
Joe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ermouth is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Joe is controlling him.
Joe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ermouth is keeping the position for now.
Ermouth avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Joe controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Ermouth wriggles free and stands up.
Ermouth has his takedown stuffed
and Joe counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Ermouth goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Joe scores with a takedown into Ermouth's guard.

Ermouth wants to stand up but Joe is controlling him.

Joe wants to control from the top but Ermouth keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Joe works a leg free and moves into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ermouth can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Joe wants to free his trapped foot but Ermouth is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ermouth is trying to escape back to his feet but Joe uses the scramble to pass into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Joe lands some shots froms side control.
Joe slows the pace down.
Ermouth tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Joe controlling the position well here. Ermouth rolled but Joe kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samoa Joe dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ermouth with a poor takedown

and Joe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ermouth's guard.
Ermouth is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Joe is controlling him.
Joe sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ermouth's guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Joe in particular looking to stall.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Joe connects with a nice short shot to Ermouth's temple.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Samoa Joe just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Ermouth misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Joe.
Ermouth scores with a leg kick.
Ermouth has his takedown stuffed

and Joe counters with a takedown into side control.
Joe is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Ermouth is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Joe has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Joe misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Ermouth is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Joe stands up.
Joe feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ermouth's calf.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A slapping body kick lands there for Ermouth.
Ermouth dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ermouth looks to land a combination but Joe avoids it well.
Ermouth misses with a two punch combination.
Ermouth rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Joe moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ermouth missing with a left hand there. Joe was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Joe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Joe won't allow Ermouth to get back to his feet.
Joe slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Joe lands a couple of elbows.
Joe is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Joe with a flurry of punches that miss.
Ermouth really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Joe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Joe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Joe controls from within his opponent's guard.
Joe working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ermouth's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samoa Joe dominated that second round.
That's time! Joe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Joe fails with a takedown attempt.
Ermouth doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Joe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Joe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ermouth wants to stand but Joe is controlling the position.
Joe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Joe wants to control from the top but Ermouth keeps moving.
Ermouth is wriggling around but Joe manages to pass to half guard.
Joe works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Joe landing strikes from the mount and Ermouth is in trouble!

Joe is in the full mount, landing strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Joe sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Joe wants to control the pace but Ermouth is squirming around nicely.

Ermouth is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Joe is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ermouth can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
BOOM! Joe connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The referee warns Ermouth that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ermouth wants to get back to his feet.

Ermouth is rocked!
Joe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ermouth can do to turn this around?
Joe postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Ermouth badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Joe around the waist but Joe pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Joe is the winner by TKO! Joe jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Samoa Joe!
