The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Such feints and as Bates raises his hands in defense, Such changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Such looking to sit in guard and control but Bates gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Such wants to hit a switch here but Bates passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Such there!

Bates gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Bates shoots in but Such avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Such! But no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Such stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bates.

Bates shoots in but Such avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Such lands a lovely overhand right.
Bates shoots in for a takedown but Such shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
And Such tries to counter it with a takedown but Bates pushes his down on his head and steps out.
BIll Bates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Such connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Such steps in with a hook that catches Bates right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Such follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Bates looks absolutely devastated.
