Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gennady Golovkin (ranked 5335 p4p, 497 weight class) and Karnak Lao (ranked 6604 p4p, 553 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Karnak Lao!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Skip Squint and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice shot lands for Golovkin.
Golovkin scores with a jab to the body.
Golovkin lands with a nice combination. Lao backs away looking to recover.
Golovkin smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Golovkin lands a glancing blow to the side of Lao's head.
Nice sprawl there from Golovkin as Lao shoots in.
Golovkin lands a slapping body shot.
Golovkin jabs Lao to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Golovkin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Lao drops his hands momentarily and Golovkin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

A right-left combo lands from Golovkin.
Golovkin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Lao throws out a leg kick but Golovkin moves out of range and Lao only half commits.
Golovkin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Golovkin comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Golovkin feints a jab promting Lao to slip. Golovkin then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lao slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
It looks like Karnak Lao has been cut.
Gennady Golovkin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Golovkin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
That's one minute gone in the round.

Lao tries to clinch but Golovkin moves away
and Lao takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Lao throws a lazy head kick
and Golovkin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Golovkin jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

OH! Lao has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Golovkin smells blood and charges in for the finish! Golovkin unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Lao sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!
