Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jaromir Jag!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jag lands a head kick!
The fight stays on the outside here - Jag looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A head kick misses from Jag.
Jag tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kelly swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jag fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jag doesn't manage to clinch there - Kelly circles away.
Jag fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kelly rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jag moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jag is looking to clinch but Kelly is avoiding it.
Jag moves in looking to clinch but Kelly pushes him off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jag tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kelly swivels and escapes.

Jag closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jag lands in his opponent's guard.
Jag has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kelly is proving hard to escape from.

Kelly scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Jag is looking to clinch but Kelly is avoiding it.
Jag tries to clinch there but Kelly circles away.
Jag fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Kelly avoids the head kick by Jag.
Kelly rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jag moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Jag avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kelly fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jag thuds his shin into the meat of Kelly's side.
Jag tries to close the distance and clinch but Kelly swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kelly will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Kelly turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kelly manages to end up in side control.
Kelly prevents Jag from escaping the position.
Kelly working the body and head with strikes.

Kelly stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Jag clinches but Kelly breaks the clinch

and Kelly counters with a single leg into guard. Jag didn't expect that.
Jag is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jag wants to stand and escape but Kelly is having none of it.

Jag has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kelly off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Kelly throws a series of punches but Jag moves out of range.
Kelly throws a head kick but Jag moves out of range.
Jag walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Jag clinches but Kelly breaks the clinch

and Kelly counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Jag down! Kelly is looking to finish but Jag is intelligently defending himself.


Jag is rocked!
Kelly stands up over Jag, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Oh Jag is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kelly controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Jag seems to have got his legs back now.
Jag wants to stand but Kelly is controlling the position.
Kelly looking to pass the guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kelly stands and steps away. Jag gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Jag dodges the punch combination from Kelly.

Kelly closes the distance and clinches.

Kelly breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kelly moves into the clinch.
Jag misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kelly.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kelly works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kelly stands and steps away. Jag gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Kelly throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Kelly dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kelly throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jag darts in trying to clinch

and Kelly counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Jag!
Jag tries to get to full guard but Kelly has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kelly looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Kelly working over Jag with some ground and pound. Jag looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Jag misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Kelly escapes and gets back to his feet.
Jag shoots and misses

and Kelly counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kelly.
Jag looking to stall.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jag letting Kelly take a breather here.

Kelly softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Kelly turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Kelly decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jag to his feet.
Jag tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Kelly counters with a shoot takedown. Jag fights it but they end up in guard.
Jag throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Jag wants to stand up but Kelly is controlling him.
Jag not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jag wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kelly manages to pass to side control.

Kelly prevents Jag from standing back up.
Kelly is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Jag is looking to escape.

Kelly escapes and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kelly tries a head kick but it misses.
Jag closes the distance looking to clinch

and Kelly counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Jag is working an open guard so Kelly takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jag wants to clinch but Kelly slips to the side

and Kelly counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jag!
Kelly cracks Jag with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jag is bucking up trying to escape but Kelly cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Jag wants to try and get back to his feet.
Joe Kelly has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jag can't escape the position.
Jag is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Kelly has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jag tries to lock up and control but Kelly gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Jag tries to buck Kelly off but he can't manage it.
Jag is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Kelly lands a big shot there that rocks Jag but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Kelly takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kelly lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Kelly avoids the attempt from Jag to control.
Jag is trying to escape the mount.
Jag swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Kelly controlling the pace for now.
Kelly looking to finish Jag with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jag!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kelly fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Jag working to try and regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Kelly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Kelly looks for a takedown but Jag sprawls well.

Jag has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jag tries to break the clinch but Kelly is controlling the position.

Kelly's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jag tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kelly counters with a straight right hand.
Jag closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kelly counters with an outside leg kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kelly tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jag swivels and escapes.
Jag shoots in for a double leg but Kelly sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Kelly gets to his feet - Jag follows without any prompting.
Kelly tries for a takedown but Jag sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jaromir Jag has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Kelly.

Kelly misses with a few strikes there.
Jag looks to clinch
and Kelly counters with a two punch combo.

and Kelly counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jag's guard now.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jag trying to strike off his back.
Kelly slips nicely into half guard.
Kelly wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jag keeps working.

Jag makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Jag wants to clinch but Kelly slips to the side

and Kelly counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kelly.

Kelly has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jag clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jag trying to get back to his feet but Kelly is in full control for now.
The referee is taking a good look at Jag as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Kelly!

Kelly is hanging on to Jag's back as he tries to escape.
Jag looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Kelly is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Jag up.

Kelly scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Jag is looking for a way out.
Kelly is trying to stick to Jag's back but Jag is turning into Kelly. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Kelly's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jag.

Kelly pushes Jag off and gets back to his feet.
Jag tries to clinch but Kelly moves away
and Kelly counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kelly misses with a head kick.
Jag throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Jaromir Jag has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jag has his foot on Kelly's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kelly works his way back into a safe position though.

Joe Kelly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kelly has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
