Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sparky Anderson (ranked 120 p4p, 21 weight class) and Pat Verbeek (ranked 1541 p4p, 180 weight class). Sparky Anderson had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pat Verbeek! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Verbeek chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Verbeek lands a really nice looking cross but Anderson seems unphased.

Verbeek punishes Anderson's body with a nice straight punch. Verbeek jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Anderson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Verbeek to the mat! Verbeek manages to get full guard. Verbeek is adopting a defensive guard. Verbeek keeping full guard, as Anderson tries to pass. Verbeek can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Anderson controls the pace. Anderson won't allow Verbeek to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Anderson won't allow Verbeek to sweep him here. Anderson is stalling in the full guard. Anderson trying to control but Verbeek is working from the bottom.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Pat Verbeek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Anderson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A slapping leg kick lands for Verbeek.
Anderson sizes up Verbeek with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Verbeek connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Anderson's hands. Verbeek lands a jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Verbeek on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Anderson. Anderson obviously looking to wear him down.
Anderson drops his hands momentarily and Verbeek takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Anderson is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Verbeek checks a leg kick. Verbeek swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Oh Anderson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Verbeek throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Anderson seems to have got his legs back now. Anderson takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Anderson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Verbeek moves away. Anderson gets the takedown into side control. Verbeek really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Anderson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Verbeek dodges the ground and pound from Anderson. Anderson working the ground and pound but Verbeek is defending the strikes. Anderson tries to score with some ground and pound. Verbeek controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Verbeek manages to get back to half guard. Anderson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Verbeek blocking the ground and pound attempt from Anderson.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Verbeek is trying to control but can't.
Anderson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Verbeek with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Anderson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Verbeek does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Verbeek is looking to improve his position.
Anderson is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Verbeek still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Verbeek has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Verbeek taking a breather here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Pat Verbeek will probably get the nod. That's time! Anderson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Anderson ducks under a wild hook from Verbeek. Anderson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Verbeek throws a low kick but Anderson moves out of range easily. Pat Verbeek seems to be getting the better of the standup. A big right from Verbeek misses. Verbeek with a hook. A left lands for Verbeek. Verbeek has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Nice uppercut lands for Verbeek. That snapped Anderson's head back.

Verbeek throws a big shot that misses. A quick step to the side and Anderson tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Verbeek catches Anderson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Verbeek scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A nice leg kick lands there from Verbeek. Anderson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Verbeek.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson on the wrong end of a nice hook. Anderson moves out of range of the strikes. Anderson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Verbeek thows a left - swing and a miss! Anderson scores with a jab to the head.

Anderson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Anderson is looking to wear down Verbeek with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Verbeek tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Anderson was well out of range. Poor timing from Verbeek. Verbeek throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Anderson sees it coming and avoids it easily. Anderson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Anderson shoots in looking for a takedown. Verbeek tries to sprawl out of it but Anderson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Verbeek manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A jab from Anderson misses. Anderson drives through and clinches with Verbeek against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Anderson goes for a takedown attempt but Verbeek pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sparky Anderson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Anderson lands with a right to the head. Verbeek cracks Anderson with a nice body shot. Anderson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Verbeek has him pressed against the cage.

Verbeek working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Verbeek lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. A nice left hand lands by Verbeek.
Verbeek throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Andersons head. Anderson stalling in the clinch but Verbeek improves position. Anderson blocks an uppercut.
Anderson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Verbeek fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Verbeek creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Anderson's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Anderson drops to his knees and Verbeek pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pat Verbeek! Pat Verbeek is the new lightweight champion! During a confident post fight interview, Pat Verbeek thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
