Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dennis Fischer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Seth Rydell! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rydell takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. A head kick misses from Fischer. We've been informed that Rydell has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. A cross from Rydell lands. Fischer tries a head kick but it misses.
Rydell steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Fischer. Rydell misses with a body shot.
Rydell has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rydell blocks an uppercut.
Fischer takes a knee to the side of the body. Rydell misses with a punch on the inside.
Fischer has a couple of punches blocked by Rydell.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Fischer. Fischer misses with a punch to the body.
Fischer manages to break the clinch.
Rydell walks into a straight right hand from Fischer. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rydell thows a left - swing and a miss! Fischer jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Fischer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rydell throws a jab when Fischer was well out of range. Fischer lands a nice looking kick to the body. Rydell takes a step back to recover.
That's one minute gone in the round. A solid leg kick lands there for Fischer.
Fischer looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Fischer tries a head kick but it misses.
Rydell misses with a body shot.
Rydell misses with a looping left. Rydell is looking to take this fight into the clinch. An attempted straight right counter from Fischer misses the target. Rydell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rydell throws a sloppy body shot
enabling Fischer to counter with a crisp jab. Rydell tries to clinch but Fischer is having none of it. Fischer misses with an uppercut. Fischer throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Fischer circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rydell is looking to clinch. Fischer uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rydell closes the distance and pushes Fischer back into the ropes. Fischer lands with a short shot to the head. Rydell swings wildly with an uppercut but Fischer uses good head movement to avoid it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Fischer lands a hook that snaps the head of Rydell backwards. Rydell blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Fischer misses with some punches.
Rydell is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Fischer is defending well for now. Fischer lands with a light punch inside.
Rydell is rocked! Rydell landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Rydell is still on wobbly legs! Can Fischer finish him? Fischer lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Rydell or not. Fischer lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Rydell to his knees! Fischer keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dennis Fischer! During a confident post fight interview, Dennis Fischer thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
