Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dale Boomberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ren Eto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!

With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dale Boomberg!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ren Eto!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Boomberg.
Boomberg steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Eto. That one must have hurt.
Boomberg shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Eto as he avoids it easily.
Eto throws a nice inside leg kick.
Boomberg will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dale Boomberg. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Eto tries a head kick but it misses.
Boomberg shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eto pinned against the cage. Eto gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Eto stuffs the takedown.
Boomberg shoots in but no luck this time.
Eto lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Boomberg backs up against the cage.
Eto lands a head kick. Boomberg smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Boomberg shoots in but Eto avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Eto scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Boomberg shoots in but Eto avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Boomberg tries to clinch up.
Eto lands with a kick to the temple. Boomberg shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Eto scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Eto decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Eto goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Eto lands a head kick!
Eto lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Boomberg fails with the takedown
and Eto counters with a stiff right hand.

Boomberg misses with a takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Boomberg tries to clinch but Eto is having none of it.
Boomberg takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Eto closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Boomberg to the mat! Boomberg manages to get full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ren Eto dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Eto throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Eto rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Boomberg moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Boomberg is trying to drag Eto to the mat but Eto just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Boomberg fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dale Boomberg. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eto prevents the takedown attempt.
Boomberg tries to score a body lock takedown but Eto shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Boomberg goes for a takedown in the clinch but Eto prevents it.
Boomberg is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Eto wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Eto wants to get back to striking at distance but Boomberg won't allow it.

Boomberg pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Boomberg shoots and misses

and Eto counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Eto.
Boomberg tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Eto smiles and moves away.

and Eto counters with a nice low kick that buckles Boomberg's knee momentarily.
Boomberg tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Eto makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Boomberg misses with a takedown

and Eto counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Boomberg!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eto controlling the position easily from mount.
Eto wants to control but instead Boomberg manages to regain half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boomberg is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Boomberg is working hard here to advance position.

Boomberg is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Eto pulls his head out easily.
Eto is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Boomberg is looking for a sweep. Eto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boomberg is trying to maintain the position but Eto is very close to passing his half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Boomberg misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Boomberg looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Eto scores with a takedown into Boomberg's guard.

Eto stands and steps away. Boomberg gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Eto looks to land a body kick but Boomberg moved away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ren Eto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Boomberg has his foot on Eto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Eto works his way back into a safe position though.

Eto stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Eto dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Boomberg. That did some damage!

Boomberg has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Eto doesn't defend quickly enough and Boomberg has managed to lock this one up! Can Eto escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Boomberg on a fantastic submission victory.
