Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derrick Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tap Out!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Joseph Jones and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Out misses.
Out fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.
Out throws out a powerful jab.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Out pushes him off.
Out looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Out.
Jones wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Jones tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Out manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jones connects with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Out misses with a looping right.
Out lunges at Jones with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jones's hand.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Out avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jones seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Jones wants to clinch
and Jones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Out connects with a body shot.
Out cracks Jones with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Jones misses with a series of wild punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones staying out of range there.
Jones throws a combination that misses
and Out counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jones tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Out was well out of range. Poor timing from Jones.
Out sends Jones crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Out is motioning to the referee to let Jones up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Jones is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Oh Jones is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tap Out is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jones gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Out gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Jones is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tap Out!
