Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Makinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Assuerio Sanderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Makinen's entrance music is Deathlike silence - Six feet under the ground. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Makinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Assuerio Sanderson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makinen walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sanderson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Sanderson takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Sanderson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Makinen wants to get back to his feet.
Makinen trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Well, if Sanderson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Makinen tries to kick Sanderson off but Sanderson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Makinen is trying to stand back up but Sanderson is controlling him

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Makinen misses with the combination.
Nice sprawl there from Sanderson as Makinen shoots in.
Makinen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Sanderson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Makinen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Makinen is trying to control the position but Sanderson postures up.
Sanderson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Still in half guard, Sanderson seems content to control.
Let's hope that Sanderson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sanderson lands a nice short elbow.

and Sanderson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sanderson.
Makinen fails to pull guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Makinen has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sanderson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Makinen is trying to stand back up but Sanderson is controlling him
Makinen is trying to escape back to his feet but Sanderson uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Makinen wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Makinen bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Douglas Makinen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Sanderson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Makinen's guard now.
Makinen wants to get back to his feet but Sanderson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Sanderson is stalling in the full guard.
Sanderson won't allow Makinen to get back to his feet.
Sanderson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sanderson thows a big elbow that misses.
Sanderson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Makinen connects with a solid leg kick.
Makinen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanderson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sanderson closes the distance but Makinen moves to the side
and Makinen counters with a three punch combo that has Sanderson backing up. Sanderson nods at Makinen to acknowledge the strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Assuerio Sanderson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Makinen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Makinen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sanderson as he avoids it easily.
A punch combination from Makinen misses.

Sanderson gets a clinch.
Sanderson prevents Makinen from breaking the clinch.
Makinen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sanderson has him pressed against the cage.

Sanderson drags the fight down to the ground.
Makinen wanted to stand there but Sanderson had control of the position.
Sanderson tries to strike from the bottom.

Makinen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanderson keeping moving, preventing Makinen from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Makinen wants to stand but Sanderson is controlling his posture from full guard.

Makinen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sanderson.

Makinen tries to bum rush Sanderson with a series of wild strikes but Sanderson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sanderson keeps control of Makinen as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Makinen wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Makinen throws a knee to the head but misses.
Makinen goes for a takedown attempt but Sanderson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Douglas Makinen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sanderson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Makinen tries to lock up and control but Sanderson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Makinen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Makinen tries to hold on but Sanderson postures up.
Makinen is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Assuerio Sanderson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Makinen is looking to improve his position but Sanderson isn't that keen on the idea.
Makinen throwing hammer fists to the chest of Sanderson. What's that going to do exactly?
Sanderson won't let Makinen get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Sanderson wants to finish this one by submission but Makinen is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sanderson.
Makinen is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Assuerio Sanderson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


A left and a right from Makinen both land. Nice combination.
Makinen fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sanderson.
Makinen lands a nice leg kick that just misses Sanderson's sensitive parts.
Makinen doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Sanderson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Makinen wants to get back to his feet but Sanderson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Sanderson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Makinen is proving hard to escape from.

and Sanderson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Makinen's guard.
Makinen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Makinen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sanderson!

Makinen gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Makinen stalks Sanderson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sanderson's face. Sanderson staggers backwards, shaken.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Makinen.

so Sanderson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sanderson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Makinen sprawls well initially but Sanderson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Makinen has hold of Sanderson's hands but Sanderson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Makinen makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Makinen thows a body kick. Sanderson tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Makinen lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

It looks like Assuerio Sanderson has been cut.
Makinen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sanderson takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Danga de danga de dang - Makinen scores with a four punch combination!
Makinen throws a push kick but Sanderson slaps the foot to one side.
Makinen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Makinen scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Makinen instigates a clinch.
Sanderson prevents a takedown attempt there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Makinen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sanderson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Makinen has Sanderson in his guard.

Makinen wants to stand up but Sanderson is controlling him.

Makinen manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Makinen lands with a thumping leg kick.
Makinen tries for a takedown but Sanderson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A nice leg kick lands there from Makinen.
Makinen goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Makinen throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Sanderson's head.
Makinen fails with a takedown attempt.
Makinen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sanderson takes a kick to the side of the head.
Sanderson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Makinen.
Douglas Makinen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Makinen lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Sanderson can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Makinen and Sanderson drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Makinen.
