Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Burt Gaines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zeal shoots in for a double leg but Gaines sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gaines throws a quick counter head kick but Zeal was just out of range.
Zeal shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gaines but Gaines pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gaines appears to be looking for a big counter.
Gaines changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Zeal tries to avoid it but Gaines manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Zeal to the ground. Zeal escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gaines moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromZeal.
Zeal closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gaines really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zeal's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Gaines goes for a double leg but Zeal avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Zeal continues to drive forward.

Gaines is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Zeal looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Gaines puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Gaines postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Zeal to stand up.

and Zeal counters with a three punch combo that has Gaines backing up. Gaines nods at Zeal to acknowledge the strikes.
Zeal lands a nice shot to the body.
Zeal forces Gaines back against the cage and clinches.
Gaines escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Zeal shoots in for a double leg but Gaines sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
As Zeal backs away, Gaines returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Zeal darts in and clinches Gaines up against the cage.
Zeal is trying to pull guard but Gaines has him pressed against the cage.
Gaines escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Zeal scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zeal looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
It looked like Gaines was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Zeal looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gaines is fending him off so far but Zeal persists. Nope, Gaines circles away and we're back to standing.
Gaines displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Zeal.
Gaines throws a quick counter kick to the body but Zeal avoids it.

Zeal fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Robert Zeal will probably get the nod.
That's time! Gaines's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Zeal leaves Gaines with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gaines tries to clinch but Zeal moves out of range.
Gaines tries to close the distance and clinch up but Zeal swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gaines closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Zeal quickly recovers to half guard.
Zeal is looking to improve his position.
Zeal wants to get back to his feet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zeal can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gaines lands strikes from half guard.
Zeal flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Gaines content to control rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gaines maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Zeal could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Gaines has cracked it and Zeal is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Gaines!
