PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pyotr Petrov (ranked 2974 p4p, 376 weight class) and Fabio Ferreira (ranked 5635 p4p, 601 weight class). Fabio Ferreira told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pyotr Petrov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fabio Ferreira!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Darius Henderson and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferreira takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Petrov connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Petrov stuffs the takedown.
Petrov swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Petrov throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ferreira stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ferreira walks into a left hand.
Ferreira closes the distance looking to clinch
and Petrov counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Ferreira shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petrov catches Ferreira with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Petrov fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ferreira takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ferreira gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Petrov.
Petrov ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Ferreira swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Petrov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Ferreira thinking.
Ferreira has his takedown stuffed
and Petrov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Pyotr Petrov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabio Ferreira.

Oooooh!!! Petrov has knocked Ferreira down with a huge combo! Petrov steps away and waves a wobbly Ferreira back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Ferreira is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Petrov jabs Ferreira to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Ferreira looks winded!
Ferreira looks up at the clock. Bad move! Petrov lands a right hand from hell, dropping Ferreira. Petrov pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
