Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Aalto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timo Tarkkonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tarkkonen has chosen Konvehdinmussutajat - Älä lyö naamaan as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Viktor Aalto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Viktor Aalto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Timo Tarkkonen!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aalto fails with the takedown.
Tarkkonen tries to clinch up.
Aalto stalks Tarkkonen and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Tarkkonen's face. Tarkkonen staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Timo Tarkkonen has been cut.
Aalto cracks Tarkkonen with an open hand slap.
Aalto misses with a double jab.
Aalto lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Tarkkonen backs up against the cage.
Tarkkonen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Aalto counters with a takedown into side control.


Tarkkonen is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Aalto tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Aalto has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Aalto thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Aalto wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tarkkonen, who protects the arm well.
Aalto is breathing heavily.
Aalto trying to control the action but Tarkkonen is working from the bottom.
Aalto advances nicely into full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Aalto wants to control the pace but Tarkkonen is squirming around nicely.

Aalto is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Tarkkonen to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Aalto is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Aalto wants to stand but Tarkkonen is controlling his posture from full guard.

Aalto drops back, looking for a kneebar! Tarkkonen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Tarkkonen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Tarkkonen!

Tarkkonen stands up.
Tarkkonen throws a series of punches but Aalto avoids them all with ease.
Tarkkonen scores with a jab to the jaw.
A telegraphed right hand from Aalto misses the target.
Aalto shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tarkkonen pinned against the cage. Tarkkonen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Tarkkonen tries to bum rush Aalto with a series of wild strikes but Aalto uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tarkkonen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Tarkkonen misses with a series of wild punches.
Aalto misses with a two punch combination.
Aalto defending well as Tarkkonen loads up on a big left hand.
Aalto tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tarkkonen was well out of range. Poor timing from Aalto.

and Aalto counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Tarkkonen!
Tarkkonen's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Tarkkonen is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aalto is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tarkkonen can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Aalto is going olschool here, as he tries to force Tarkkonen to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Tarkkonen shrugs it off.

Aalto moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Tarkkonen has worked his arm free - good work by Tarkkonen!
Tarkkonen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Aalto asserts his dominance and retains side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tarkkonen on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Aalto shoots in and bounces Tarkkonen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
