PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Erasmo Carlos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jao Paulo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlos comes to the cage accompanied by Sans Pression Numero 1. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Erasmo Carlos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jao Paulo!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlos wants to clinch up but Paulo keeps it at a distance.
Paulo throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Paulo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Paulo is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Carlos's shoulder. That is not cool.
Carlos is looking for a sweep.
Carlos wants to get back to his feet.
The referee asks Paulo politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Paulo prefers to stall for the moment though.

Carlos tries to lock up and control but Paulo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Carlos sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Carlos is looking to escape.

Carlos pushes Paulo off looking to stand but Paulo dives back in and keeps control.

Paulo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carlos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Paulo is thwarting Carlos's attempts to control the position.

Paulo wants to work for an arm triangle but Carlos is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Paulo content to control rather than advance.
Carlos is trying to stand.
Carlos is breathing heavily.

Paulo stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Carlos to get to his feet.

Paulo throws a head kick but Carlos moves out of range.

Carlos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Carlos takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Paulo swats away the attempt to clinch by Carlos.

Carlos gets caught flat footed, as Paulo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Paulo is stalling in the full guard.
Paulo scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Carlos wants to stand but Paulo is controlling the position.
Paulo controls from within his opponent's guard.
Paulo chips away with some ground and pound.

Paulo gets to his feet. Carlos looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Carlos tries to clinch up but Paulo circles away and keeps his distance.

Paulo scores a takedown into full mount!
Carlos is trying to stand.
Carlos is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Paulo has taken his back!
Paulo is riding his opponent, not letting Carlos buck him off.

A lull in the action here.
Carlos tries to break free.

Paulo looking for the choke from the back.
Paulo wants to control but Carlos is keeping busy.
Paulo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Carlos is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Carlos rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Paulo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Paulo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Paulo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Paulo lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Carlos is desperately trying to improve his position but Paulo has a good base and remains in mount.
Carlos is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Carlos wants to hold on but Paulo pushes him away.
Paulo trying to control but Carlos is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
You get the feeling that Carlos really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Carlos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Paulo on the ground.

Paulo connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Paulo moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Carlos has worked his arm free - good work by Carlos!
Carlos tries to bench press Paulo off him but Paulo keeps the position.

Paulo stands up.
Paulo moves in looking to clinch but Carlos pushes him off.

Carlos stalks Paulo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Paulo's face. Paulo staggers backwards, shaken.

Paulo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Paulo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Paulo prevents Carlos from improving his position.
Carlos is looking to escape.
Paulo seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Paulo looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Paulo is looking to take a break and control but Carlos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Carlos is trying to stand up here but Paulo is controlling him well.

Jao Paulo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Erasmo Carlos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jao Paulo.
Carlos throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Paulo dodges the punch combination from Carlos.
Paulo shoots in but Carlos avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Carlos bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Carlos trying to control the position but instead, Paulo has worked for underhooks and has pushed Carlos into the cage.
Carlos is trying to break the clinch but Paulo has him pressed against the cage.
Erasmo Carlos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jao Paulo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Paulo manages to break the clinch.

Jao Paulo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Paulo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
