Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joshua Syracuse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rick Scott!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott misses with a double jab
and Syracuse counters with a left and a right that stings Scott.
Joshua Syracuse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott tries a head kick but it misses.
Scott misses with a takedown
and Syracuse connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Syracuse lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Syracuse really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Scott tries to score a power double leg takedown but Syracuse sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Scott somewhat.
A low kick from Scott misses

and Syracuse counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Scott!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Syracuse is looking to take a break and control but Scott is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Scott's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Check out the look on Syracuse's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scott takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Syracuse has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Scott is rocked!

Syracuse working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Scott is still in real trouble! Can Syracuse finish him?

Syracuse stands up and beckons Scott to his feet.
Scott drops his hands momentarily. Syracuse doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Scott staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Scott doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joshua Syracuse!
