Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chris Peoples! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Al Best! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, David Hoff and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A clash of legs there as Best blocks the low kick. Best clinches up with Peoples and pushes him back against the cage. Best will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Peoples up against the cage. Best breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Best stuffs the takedown. Peoples tries to clinch and Best counters with a right hand to the body. Best tries a head kick but it misses.
Good work by Peoples as he checks the leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Peoples misses the body punch and Best counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Peoples takes a swing at Best's ribcage but misses. Peoples attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Peoples has a takedown stuffed.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peoples misses with a takedown attempt - Best sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Peoples. That's going to take a lot out of him. Best pushes Peoples up against the cage in a clinch. Best's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Best misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Peoples feinted with a counter takedown. Peoples misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Peoples shoots in looking for a takedown. Best tries to sprawl out of it but Peoples keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Best manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. No luck for Best with that takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Best shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Best scores with a hook to the body. Peoples takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Best lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Peoples wants to clinch and Best counters with a lovely shot to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Best is trying hard to land a takedown here. Peoples sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Peoples throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Best counters with a three punch combo that has Peoples backing up. Peoples nods at Best to acknowledge the strikes. A looping hook to the body misses from Peoples. Best does a little dance to reset his feet. Best with the counter takedown but Peoples avoids it easily. Best gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Peoples escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Best closes the distance and clinches. Peoples stalling in the clinch but Best improves position. Peoples gets control of Best's arms and successfully pulls guard. Peoples will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Best sitting in guard, not really doing much. Peoples is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Peoples throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Best trying to control the pace. Best is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Best throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Peoples gets full guard. Best stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Peoples swivels though and keeps the full guard. Peoples is trying to keep Best in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Al Best dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Best wants to break free but Peoples has control.
Peoples is looking to take this one to the mat. Peoples drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Best has Peoples pushed against the cage. Best drags the fight down to the ground.
Peoples is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Best is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Peoples trying to control but Best is working from the bottom. Best looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Peoples drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Best manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Peoples has Best in his guard. Peoples keeping full guard, as Best tries to pass. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Peoples is on top in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peoples wants to control from the top but Best keeps moving. Peoples being controlled here momentarily. Peoples stands and throws Best's legs to the side, diving into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Peoples trying to control the position but Best is working away. Best really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peoples. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Peoples is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Best is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Peoples is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Best is trying to escape and Peoples transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Best is forced to tap! Nice work there by Peoples! Very nice indeed!
