Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Franklin (ranked 1666 p4p, 190 weight class) and Katu Partio (ranked 1146 p4p, 143 weight class). Franklin comes to the cage accompanied by Tron Cat- Tyler, The Creator. Partio has chosen Sininen sunnuntai as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Katu Partio has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franklin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Partio.
Jab by Partio.
Partio tests Franklin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Partio misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Partio has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Partio.
Franklin tries to counter with a takedown but Partio is quick to defend against it.
A chopping leg kick lands by Partio.

Partio lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Partio misses with a hook
and Franklin counters with a single leg into guard. Partio didn't expect that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Franklin throws a big elbow that misses.

Partio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Franklin throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Partio is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Partio tries to pass to full mount but Franklin defends it.
Franklin tries to roll over but Partio keeps him under control.
Partio is nestled in close to Franklin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Franklin is pressing down on Partio's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Partio trying to control the position from guard on top but Franklin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Franklin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Partio wants to pass the guard but Franklin is keeping the position.
Partio with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Franklin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Franklin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Partio manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Partio is trying to hold Franklin in close to prevent damage but Franklin has managed to pass into half guard.

Partio wants to get back to full guard.

Franklin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Partio sees it coming and defends easily.

Franklin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Partio makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Partio.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Franklin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Partio wants to sweep here but Franklin controlling him for the moment.
Franklin forces his way into half guard.
Franklin prevents Partio from improving his position.
Franklin is pressing down on Partio's thigh, looking to free his foot. Partio is holding on for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Partio looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Katu Partio dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Franklin shoots in but Partio avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Franklin is defended easily by Partio.
Partio looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Partio throws a front kick that sends Franklin stumbling back into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Franklin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Partio stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Franklin gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Franklin dives in and scores a takedown into Partio's guard.
Franklin content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Partio has locked up a guillotine! Partio's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Franklin is holding on here and Partio must be using up a lot of energy. Franklin has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Partio gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Katu Partio!
Katu Partio was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
