Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roy Whitaker (ranked 4459 p4p, 497 weight class) and Ulises Takeshi (ranked 8161 p4p, 697 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roy Whitaker ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ulises Takeshi! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Whitaker takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Takeshi feints and then cracks Whitaker 's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Whitaker down. Takeshi throws out a leg kick but Whitaker moves out of range and Takeshi only half commits. A kick lands to the mid section there for Takeshi. Takeshi scores with a leg kick.
Whitaker misses with a body shot.
Takeshi tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Takeshi lands a leg kick that knocks Whitaker off balance momentarily. Takeshi throws a leg kick that is checked and Whitaker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Takeshi looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Takeshi moves away from the strike by Whitaker . Whitaker throws out a loose jab but Takeshi uses good head movement to avoid it. Takeshi lands a nice leg kick that just misses Whitaker 's sensitive parts. Whitaker on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Takeshi. Takeshi obviously looking to wear him down.
Takeshi defending well as Whitaker loads up on a big left hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Takeshi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ulises Takeshi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Takeshi is looking to chop away at Whitaker 's legs. Takeshi slips under a jab from Whitaker .
That's one minute gone in the round. Takeshi lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Whitaker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Takeshi looks to throw a body kick and Whitaker counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Takeshi tries to land a body kick enabling Whitaker to counter with a crisp jab. The fight stays on the outside here - Takeshi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Takeshi dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Whitaker . That did some damage! Takeshi throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Takeshi throws a leg kick which misses Whitaker 's front leg but catches the back leg as Whitaker tries to avoid it. Takeshi throws a head kick but Whitaker moves out of range.
Takeshi connects with a solid leg kick. Whitaker blocks a head kick by Takeshi.
Takeshi moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from Takeshi. Whitaker is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Takeshi slips under a jab from Whitaker . Takeshi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Whitaker checks a low kick from Takeshi. Takeshi throws a sloppy head kick and Whitaker moves out of range easily. Whitaker misses with a body shot.
Takeshi throws a leg kick and Whitaker scores with a counter punch that sends Takeshi to the canvas! Whitaker smells blood - he's punishing Takeshi with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Takeshi has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roy Whitaker !
