Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Medusa Grip (ranked 5879 p4p, 583 weight class) and Natty Lyte (ranked 5771 p4p, 588 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Medusa Grip! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Natty Lyte! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lyte tries to clinch but Grip moves out of range. Lyte doesn't manage to clinch there - Grip circles away.
Lyte tries to close the distance and clinch but Grip swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Grip tries to counter with a takedown but Lyte is quick to defend against it. Lyte moves out of range of the strikes. Lyte looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Grip will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Grip wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Grip is on top in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grip tries to free his leg and advance position but Lyte is retaining full guard. Lyte wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lyte keeps trying to improve his position. Lyte is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Grip is aware though and is defending well. Lyte tries to land a sweep but no joy. Lyte wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Grip showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Grip stands and throws Lyte's legs to the side, diving into side control. Grip tries for a kimura but Lyte is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lyte prevents Grip from improving position. Lyte is not content to let Grip control the position. Grip goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lyte has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Grip but great work by Lyte. Grip regains half guard. Grip regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Lyte. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Grip holds on and takes a little breather.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grip lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lyte has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Grip is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Grip sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lyte's guard. Grip is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lyte defends it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grip works his way into side control. Lyte struggling a bit here. Grip is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lyte has escaped the position, nice work there. Grip swings around for an armbar but Lyte sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Grip's guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lyte looking to pass the guard. Lyte wants to stand but Grip is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Medusa Grip will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Grip misses the jab. Lyte closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Grip avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lyte. Lyte wants to pass the guard but Grip is defending well. Lyte is just content to waste time from the top position. Grip takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Grip has control of Lyte's left arm, preventing Lyte from doing any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lyte trying to control the position from guard on top but Grip is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Grip trying to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lyte avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Grip can't keep his opponent in guard - Lyte advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Grip is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Lyte is looking to take a break and control but Grip is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Grip regains full guard. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lyte with a flurry of punches that miss. Lyte wants to get up but he can't break Grip's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Lyte throws a strike but Grip rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Grip wants to pass the guard but Lyte is keeping the position. Grip wants to control from the top but Lyte keeps moving. Lyte striking off his back but it's not causing Grip any problems. Grip trying to control the position from guard on top but Lyte is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lyte is trying to keep Grip in close.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grip throws a jab when Lyte was well out of range. Lyte looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Lyte drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Grip has control of Lyte's left arm, preventing Lyte from doing any damage. Grip is looking to sweep but instead, Lyte has passed into half guard.
Grip tries to roll over but Lyte keeps him under control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lyte is looking for a kimura but Grip is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lyte to get the leverage. Grip makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Grip. Grip pulls Lyte in close to his closed guard and prevents Lyte from doing any damage or advancing position. Lyte looking to sit in guard and control but Grip gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Grip wants to control from the top but Lyte keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Natty Lyte showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Lyte tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Grip manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Lyte shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Grip's guard. Natty Lyte has got the better of the ground game so far. Grip controls Lyte momentarily but Lyte frees himself. Grip pulls Lyte in to control the position. Lyte preventing the sweep. Lyte throwing strikes from guard but Grip blocks nicely. Grip is controlling Lyte's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lyte stopping the sweep attempt from Grip. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lyte with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Lyte tries to free his leg and advance position but Grip is retaining full guard. Grip bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lyte's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lyte is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Grip trying to control the position from guard on top but Lyte is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lyte looking to control.
Grip slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Grip wants to control from the top but Lyte keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lyte has Grip pulled in close to control his posture.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Excellent takedown into side control there by Lyte. Grip throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Lyte wants to clinch. Medusa Grip seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Grip loads up on a big right hand but Lyte slips the punch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A jab from Grip finds it's way through Lyte's defenses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lyte darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Grip has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lyte is working away from the top position though. Grip makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Grip. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Grip is on top in guard.
Lyte looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Lyte is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Grip is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grip is stalling in the full guard. Lyte working a defensive guard here.
Grip trying to control but Lyte is working from the bottom. Grip not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Grip wants to control from the top but Lyte keeps moving. Lyte keeping full guard, as Grip tries to pass.
And that's the end of the fight! Medusa Grip showed his dominance in that final round. I think Grip has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
