Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Art Vandelay (ranked 87 p4p, 15 weight class) and Rudy Gay (ranked 666 p4p, 84 weight class). Vandelay kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Answering Machine. Art Vandelay has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Art Vandelay! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rudy Gay! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gay drives through with a takedown into guard. Vandelay seems keen to control Gay's posture. Gay throws a big elbow that misses. Gay trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Vandelay manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Gay lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Vandelay has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gay stopping the sweep attempt from Vandelay. Gay wants to control from the top but Vandelay keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gay looking to pass the guard. Vandelay avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Gay trying to control but Vandelay is working from the bottom. Gay looking to pass the guard. Gay forces his way into half guard. Gay missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gay tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vandelay knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Gay takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Vandelay keeping control of the position. Gay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gay is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Gay has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Gay looking to control but Vandelay is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gay throws some wild stikes that Vandelay manages to avoid easily.
Gay is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Vandelay can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Gay avoids the attempt from Vandelay to control. Vandelay tries to get back to half guard but can't. Gay lands a heavy elbow. Vandelay is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Gay wants to control the pace but Vandelay is squirming around nicely. Gay looking to isolate an arm here. Vandelay doesn't see it coming and as Gay extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Gay!
