Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edgar Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mir has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Edgar Reed has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edgar Reed!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mir.
Mir bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Reed throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mir defending well as Reed loads up on a big left hand.
Mir throws a sloppy head kick and Reed moves out of range easily.
Reed throws an overhand right that lands on Mir's shoulder, as Mir tries to avoid the shot.
Mir ducks under a wild hook from Reed.
Mir fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mir closes this distance looking for a takedown but Reed circles away.
Mir tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reed paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mir displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Reed throws out the jab.
Mir changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Reed tries to avoid it but Mir manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Reed to the ground. Reed escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mir is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reed throws a looping overhand right but Mir ducks down to avoid it.

Mir gets caught flat footed, as Reed shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Reed postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Reed scoring with some ground and pound.
Reed is in close to Mir's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Reed chips away with some ground and pound.
Reed really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Reed lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Reed postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Mir could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Reed loads up on a big left hand. Mir felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Reed looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Mir can't hide his disappointment, as Reed celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Edgar Reed!
