Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dave Beast (ranked 1622 p4p, 207 weight class) and Yen Askren (ranked 1778 p4p, 231 weight class). Askren comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hello from the Askren Side kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Beast! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yen Askren! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Askren misses with a straight right. Beast looks to land a combination but Askren avoids it well. Beast ducks under a wild hook from Askren. Askren checks a low kick from Beast. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Askren! But no joy. Beast walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
It looks like Dave Beast has been cut. Beast looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Askren scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Beast throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beast blocks a jab. Beast misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Askren.
Nice uppercut there from Askren. Beast looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Beast throws a shot from downtown. Askren moves away and avoids it. Askren ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Beast moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Askren throws a series of punches but Beast moves out of range. Beast swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. As Beast backs off Askren throws a huge counter combo but Beast manages to avoid it all. Askren misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Beast counters with a nice double leg into side control. Askren won't be happy with that. Check out the look on Beast's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Beast misses with an attempted head punch from side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Askren can do anything to dispel that myth. Askren sneaks out the side door and pushes Beast away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Beast shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Beast thows a huge punch but Askren dodges it nicely.
Askren is refusing to be controlled, as Beast sits in half guard. Askren is looking for a sweep. Beast is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Askren keeps trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Askren trying to control from the bottom.
Beast trying to control from Askren's half guard. Askren has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Beast seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Askren has momentary wrist control but Beast slips an elbow through the middle. Askren has Beast pulled in close to control his posture. Askren has his feet on Beast's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Beast takes one to the side of the head.
Beast swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Askren throws out a counter right but Beast avoids it with no problem.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beast shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Beast shoots and misses letting Askren counter with a right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Beast. That's going to take a lot out of him. Beast drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Askren throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A jab from Askren misses. Beast walks into a stiff left hand from Askren. Askren throws an overhand right that lands on Beast's shoulder, as Beast tries to avoid the shot. Beast doesn't succeed with the takedown and Askren counters with a nice body shot. Beast throws the left hand but Askren avoids the punch easily. Askren lands with a nice combination. Beast backs away looking to recover.
Dave Beast's cut is getting worse. Askren has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Beast is landing a low percentage of strikes. Beast tries for a takedown but Askren circles away easily and Beast takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Askren with a body punch. A glancing blow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Beast throws out a token jab with nothing on it. It seemed like Askren was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Beast throws an off balance right hand
and Askren counters with a crisp one two that drops Beast! Askren thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Beast to his feet! Beast is in big trouble!
Beast is rocked! Beast misses with a takedown and Askren counters with a right hand to the body. Beast is breathing heavily. Beast goes for a double leg but Askren avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Askren continues to drive forward. Beast doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Beast misses with a body shot
and Askren counters with a crisp right hand that drops Beast! Askren lets Beast back up to his feet, looking for a finish! Oh Beast is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Beast is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Askren just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Beast has gone limp and this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Yen Askren! Yen Askren very nearly forgot to thank Freebok (85% Laundry) amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
