Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Noam Dar (ranked 23731 p4p, 772 weight class) and Rod Marchand (ranked 8711 p4p, 739 weight class). Marchand is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Daisy. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Rod Marchand enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Noam Dar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rod Marchand!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dar takes the fight into the clinch.

Dar gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Marchand regains guard.
Marchand is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Dar wants to control from the top but Marchand keeps moving.
Dar looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marchand swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marchand is trying to control the position but Dar postures up.
Dar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Marchand is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dar defends well.

Marchand working for a triangle but Dar defends it easily.
Dar pushing down on Marchand's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Marchand is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Marchand wants to control but Dar is keeping busy.
Marchand wants to get back to full guard but Dar has passed into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marchand is looking for a sweep.

Marchand is still trying to improve position.
Dar is looking to take a break and control but Marchand is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dar happy to just control the position for now.
Dar passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Marchand!
Dar looking to control and managing it successfully.
Dar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Dar.

Dar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Marchand is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
We've been informed that Marchand has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Dar swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Marchand is now in Dar's guard. A big mistake from Dar there, giving up the dominant position!
Dar looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Marchand wants to control from the top but Dar keeps moving.

Marchand is looking to pass into half guard but Dar pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Dar is in guard.

Dar stays in close to Marchand's body and controls the position.

Marchand throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dar escapes and throws Marchand's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Dar tries for a kimura but Marchand is defending well.
Dar trying to control the position but Marchand is working away.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Marchand closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Dar actively working from the bottom here.
Marchand tries to pass to full mount but Dar defends it.
Dar keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Marchand tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marchand is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marchand is working away from the top position though.

Marchand sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Dar defending well though.

Dar is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Marchand scores with a couple of nice shots.
Dar is not content to let Marchand control the position.
Dar preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Marchand is working for a kimura but Dar is defending it quite comfortably.
Dar tries to get to full guard but Marchand has control of the leg.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Marchand tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Dar.
Dar moves into full guard.
Dar is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Marchand looking to sit in guard and control but Dar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Marchand looks like he's trying to stand up.
Dar controlling the action here.
Dar wants to get back to his feet.
Marchand makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Marchand.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dar makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Dar wants to control from the top but Marchand keeps moving.

Marchand escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Noam Dar will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Marchand shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dar napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Marchand swings around for an armbar but Dar sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Marchand's guard.

Noam Dar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dar is pressing down on Marchand's thigh, looking to free his foot. Marchand is holding on for now.

Dar lands a big shot there that rocks Marchand but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Noam Dar showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Dar has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
