Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Sousa (ranked 3689 p4p, 313 weight class) and Silvio Dante (ranked 5493 p4p, 393 weight class). Sousa kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dillaz - Mo Boy. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carlos Sousa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Silvio Dante! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Darius Henderson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dante bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Dante throws a poor cross that misses
and Sousa counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sousa. Sousa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Dante is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sousa is controlling him. Sousa makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Dante wants to stand and escape but Sousa is having none of it. Dante pushes Sousa off and gets back to his feet.
Dante misses with a looping left. Sousa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Dante changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Sousa fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dante avoids it really well and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sousa slips a straight right by Dante. Dante pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Dante lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Silvio Dante seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dante misses with a wild body shot. Sousa half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. A looping hook to the body misses from Dante. Sousa does a little dance to reset his feet. Dante misses with a looping left. Sousa went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Dante lands with a hook. Sousa tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Dante ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Dante smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Dante lands with an overhand left.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dante jabs Sousa to the body, keeping him at a distance. Dante thuds his right hand into Sousa's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. This has been an exciting period of action! Sousa defending well as Dante loads up on a big left hand. Sousa feinted with a counter takedown. Dante connects with a good right hand that stumbles Sousa. Sousa circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Sousa is rocked! Dante fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sousa manages to avoid it. Dante misses with a hook. Dante throws a right hand that misses
and Sousa decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dante's guard. Dante wriggles free and stands up. Dante swings widly with a right hand
and Sousa counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Dante! Sousa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sousa trying to control the position but Dante is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sousa staying calm. Sousa goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dante has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sousa but great work by Dante. Dante working away. Dante has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Dante misses with a straight left. Sousa appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Good exchange - Dante coming out on top. Dante connects with a single shot there. Dante misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sousa.
Sousa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Nice sprawl there from Dante as Sousa shoots in.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dante throws a big shot that misses. Sousa attempts a counter takedown but Dante avoids it well and moves away. Silvio Dante is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sousa with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Dante to score with a decent uppercut. Dante connects with the punch. Oh Sousa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Sousa uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dante. Sousa seems to have got his legs back now. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dante throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Dante throws an overhand right that lands on Sousa's shoulder, as Sousa tries to avoid the shot. Sousa changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Sousa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dante. Dante with a nice cross. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Silvio Dante dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Dante defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sousa. A big right from Dante misses. Dante lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sousa at a distance.
Sousa takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Dante has been the more effective fighter overall so far. A jab from Dante misses. Dante lands a glancing blow to the side of Sousa's head. Carlos Sousa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Dante fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's one minute gone in the round. Sousa dives in and grabs Dante's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dante pushes down on Sousa's head and hops out. Dante doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Dante throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Sousa appears to be looking for a big counter. Dante scores with a hook to the body. Sousa takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Dante lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Sousa steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dante. Sousa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dante tries to avoid it but Sousa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dante to the ground. Dante escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Sousa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sousa gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Sousa takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Dante misses with a right hand and Sousa counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dante won't be happy with that. Dante felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dante can do anything to dispel that myth. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sousa is looking to take a break and control but Dante is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dante tries to bench press Sousa off him but Sousa keeps the position. Sousa tries to move into full mount but can't pass Dante's legs. Sousa swings around for an armbar but Dante sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sousa's guard. Sousa trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Sousa controls Dante momentarily but Dante frees himself. Dante decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Sousa moves out of range as Dante strikes. Dante pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nice uppercut there from Dante.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dante comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Sousa ducks under a wild hook from Dante. A slow jab from Dante misses its intended target. Sousa keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Good standup being displayed there by Dante as he connects with a hook. Dante looks to throw the jab but Sousa is out of range. Sousa looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Sousa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Dante throws a shot from downtown. Sousa moves away and avoids it. Nice takedown defense from Dante. No joy for Sousa on that attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dante thows a left - swing and a miss! The fighters circle momentarily. Dante darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Dante throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Dante lands a jab. Sousa misses with a takedown attempt and Dante counters with a stiff right hand. Dante misses with a looping left. As Dante looks to move away, Sousa throws a big counter combo but Dante just gets out of the way. A shot to the liver by Dante. Beautiful body shot. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dante thuds a left hand into Sousa's body. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dante throws a shot to the body.

Silvio Dante showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Dante's corner calls for a 1-2. Dante obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dante gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sousa to score an easy takedown into full guard. Dante pushes Sousa off and scrambles back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Dante throws a big shot that misses. Sousa is looking to counter punch. Sousa looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Sousa moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Dante ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Dante misses the jab. Dante loads up on a big right hand but Sousa slips the punch. Sousa tries to counter by clinching up but Dante breaks away and moves out of range. Dante uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Dante cracks Sousa with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Dante has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sousa to stand back up! Dante throws a monster overhand right that drops Sousa! Dante follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
