Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lee Wells! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Petr Knize! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knize stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Knize wants it to stay on the feet. Wells closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Knize's guard. Wells engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Knize is working an open guard so Wells takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Knize gets caught napping as Wells dives in and scores a takedown. Knize manages to retain guard. Knize has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Wells off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Knize misses with a series of wild punches.
Petr Knize seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Knize shoots in for a takedown but Wells shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Knize gets off balance looking for a body kick and Wells counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Wells. Wells escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knize tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wells sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Knize somewhat. Knize throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wells's waist but Wells gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Knize off to one side. Lee Wells has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Petr Knize. Knize throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Knize fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Wells tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Knize manages to circle out of the way. Knize is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Knize throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wells fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Knize avoids it really well and circles away. As Wells backs off Knize throws a huge counter combo but Wells manages to avoid it all. Knize tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wells gets a takedown into half guard. Wells is working for a kimura but Knize is defending it quite comfortably.
Wells stands up and beckons Knize to join him on the feet. Knize leaves Wells with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Knize tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wells paws at him with a jab and circles away. That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice shot by Knize. Knize tries to land a body kick so Wells counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Knize has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Wells has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wells is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Knize to keep the fight standing. Knize goes for a takedown in the clinch but Wells prevents it.

A close round but Petr Knize will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Wells is rocked! Knize tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wells manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Oh Wells is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Wells takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Knize lands a huge takedown. Wells is out but the ref is slow to react and Knize lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Wells lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
