Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David McDonald (ranked 3704 p4p, 401 weight class) and Ethan Brown (ranked 4453 p4p, 476 weight class). Ethan Brown will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald shoots and misses
and Brown counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
McDonald misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

McDonald gets a clinch.
Brown fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Brown is trying to break the clinch but McDonald has him pressed against the cage.

McDonald breaks the clinch.

McDonald closes the distance and pushes Brown back into the cage.

McDonald gets control of Brown's arms and successfully pulls guard. McDonald will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDonald seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've been hearing good reports from McDonald's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brown is sitting in close to McDonald's body. McDonald has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Brown is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Brown is tapping! That was a very nice submission by McDonald.
