Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Harley Marsh (ranked 8050 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derrick Jones (ranked 4540 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Harley Marsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derrick Jones!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jones dives in for a single leg takedown but Marsh sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Jones chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Marsh can pounce on him.
Marsh shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Marsh misses with a takedown
and Jones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
No luck for Marsh with that takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marsh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jones doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

and Jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jones lands with a straight right. Marsh didn't see that one coming.

The fight stays on the outside here - Marsh looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Marsh shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Marsh really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Marsh throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jones tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Marsh is in Jones's guard.

Jones is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jones is trying to pull guard but Marsh has him pressed against the cage.

Marsh breaks from the clinch.

Jones gets tackled into the cage by Marsh. Marsh maintains the clinch.
Jones is trying to force a seperation but Marsh has the dominant position.

Marsh breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Marsh fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Marsh sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Marsh is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Marsh will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jones looks to land a combination. Marsh sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Harley Marsh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Marsh stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Marsh wants it to stay on the feet.
Marsh wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Marsh is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Marsh seems keen to control Jones's posture.
Jones is looking to stand up but Marsh won't let him.
Marsh is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Jones wants to control from the top but Marsh keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Marsh darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Marsh keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Marsh's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marsh seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.

Jones pushes Marsh off looking to stand but Marsh dives back in and keeps control.
Well, if Marsh is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jones gets back to full guard.
Jones wants to sweep here but Marsh controlling him for the moment.
Marsh is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Marsh wanted to stand there but Jones had control of the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Harley Marsh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Harley Marsh will probably get the nod.
That's time! Marsh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Jones fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Marsh on the side of the head.
Marsh takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Jones swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Marsh.
Marsh wants to clinch.

Marsh feints and as Jones raises his hands in defense, Marsh changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Jones manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Marsh lands a left hand.

Marsh's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jones scores with a body shot.
Marsh tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jones lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Marsh misses with a body shot
and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Marsh.
Marsh lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Jones dives in and grabs Marsh's left leg, looking for a takedown. Marsh pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Harley Marsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Marsh manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jones on his heels. He'll look to pass Jones's guard now, I'm sure.

Jones can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Marsh controls the pace.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Marsh doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Marsh thinking.
Marsh slips a jab and a cross from Jones.
Jones misses with a two punch combination.
Jones lands a two punch combo.
Marsh moves forwards but Jones connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Marsh tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Derrick Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
