Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lawrence Finch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Punit Pathak!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pathak rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Finch moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Finch gets the takedown into side control.
Pathak struggling a bit here.
Finch could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Pathak tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Finch wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Pathak gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Finch in particular looking to stall.

Finch takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Finch looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Pathak is trying to get back to full guard.
Well, if Finch is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Finch is trying to work for a kimura but Pathak is defending well.

Pathak is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Finch looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Finch is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Pathak trying to control but Finch postures up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Finch connects with a nice short shot to Pathak's temple.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Finch wants to work for an arm triangle but Pathak is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Finch lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Finch is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Pathak on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Finch landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Finch content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Pathak is trying to get back to full guard.

Finch seems to be looking for submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Finch prevents Pathak from improving his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Finch in particular looking to stall.

Pathak gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Finch has Pathak pressed against the cage, preventing Pathak from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Pathak is trying to force a seperation but Finch has the dominant position.

Finch manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Finch tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Finch might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pathak trying to control the position from guard on top but Finch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Finch has his hands on Pathak's head, controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pathak wanted to stand there but Finch had control of the position.
Finch wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Finch tries to keep at a distance but Pathak has taken the fight into the clinch.

Finch has picked Pathak up - he's going for a ride! Finch dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Finch takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Finch seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pathak for as long as he can get away with.
Pathak is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Finch in particular looking to stall.

Lawrence Finch overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Finch is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pathak is just riding it out for now. Finch eventually gives up the hold.

Finch looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pathak with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Pathak is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Finch scores with a couple of nice shots.
Pathak wants to control but Finch is keeping busy.
Finch lands strikes from half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Finch lands a nice short elbow.

Finch is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pathak really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Finch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Finch has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Pathak defend it? Finch steps over the head and cranks it - Pathak is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Finch!
