Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anibal Petersen (ranked 24868 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Denissen (ranked 25416 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anibal Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sam Denissen!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Denissen has Petersen up against the cage in a clinch.

Denissen manages to pull guard.
Denissen controls Petersen momentarily but Petersen frees himself.
Petersen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Petersen throwing strikes but missing.
Petersen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Petersen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Denissen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Petersen with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Petersen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Petersen won't allow Denissen to sweep him here.
Denissen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Petersen tries to close the distance and clinch but Denissen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Petersen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Denissen sprawls well initially but Petersen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Denissen tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Petersen is hanging on to Denissen's back as he tries to escape.

Petersen just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Petersen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Denissen trying to control the hands but Petersen breaks the grip.
Petersen has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Denissen's body.

Denissen is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Petersen is punishing Denissen with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Denissen looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Petersen just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Petersen is trying to stick to Denissen's back but Denissen is turning into Petersen. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Petersen's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Denissen.
Denissen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Denissen wants to pass the guard but Petersen is keeping the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Petersen rushes Denissen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Petersen tries to get to full guard but Denissen has control of the leg.
Petersen is trying is best to control the position here.

Petersen makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Denissen slaps away a takedown attempt from Petersen, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Petersen wants to clinch up but Denissen keeps it at a distance.
A combination from Denissen does no damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Denissen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Petersen's elbow.
Denissen looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Petersen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Denissen walks away with a smile on his face. Petersen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Denissen dives in and scores a takedown into Petersen's guard.

Denissen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Petersen dives on top into guard.

Denissen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Petersen distracts Denissen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Denissen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Denissen wants to control the position but Petersen says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Denissen pushes Petersen off and gets back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Denissen has picked Petersen up - he's going for a ride! Denissen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Denissen is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Petersen is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Petersen manages to get to full guard.

Denissen drops back, looking for a kneebar! Petersen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Petersen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Petersen!

That was a close second round but I would say that Anibal Petersen will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Denissen misses with a kick to the body

and Petersen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Denissen is looking to stand back up but Petersen counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Denissen.

Denissen wants to get back to full guard.
Petersen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Petersen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Petersen trying to control from half guard but Denissen is working away.

Denissen sneaks out the side door and pushes Petersen away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Petersen shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Denissen is trying to defend but Petersen finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Denissen tries to keep at a distance but Petersen has taken the fight into the clinch.

Petersen tries to score a body lock takedown but Denissen shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Denissen is trying to push Petersen away but Petersen has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Petersen.

Petersen manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Petersen wants to get back to his feet but Denissen passes into half guard.

Petersen regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Denissen.

Petersen moves in looking to clinch but Denissen pushes him off.

Denissen can't find room to land a body shot as Petersen controls the action.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Denissen has picked Petersen up - he's going for a ride! Denissen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Denissen wants to stand up but Petersen has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Petersen moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Denissen trying to control the position from guard on top but Petersen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sam Denissen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Anibal Petersen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Denissen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Petersen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Denissen has Petersen in his guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Sam Denissen.
I think Petersen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
