PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Axel Boozer (ranked 2143 p4p, 243 weight class) and Blayze Sommer (ranked 1444 p4p, 176 weight class). Boozer comes to the cage accompanied by Kraftwerk - The Model. On his way into the cage it seems that Axel Boozer has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Axel Boozer seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Blayze Sommer!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sommer lands a nice shot that snaps Boozer's head back.
A lazy left from Sommer finds it's target.
Sommer bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Sommer sizes up Boozer with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Sommer lands a jab to the head.


Boozer is rocked!
Boozer takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Oh Boozer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sommer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Boozer seems to have got his legs back now.

Sommer lands a nice hook to Boozer's body. Boozer takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sommer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Boozer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Axel Boozer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sommer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sommer throws a right hand that Boozer ducks under and follows up with a left that Boozer also avoids with ease.
Boozer appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Sommer throws a lazy right hand but Boozer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Boozer throws out a loose jab but Sommer uses good head movement to avoid it.

Sommer connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Sommer drops Boozer with a beautiful combination! Boozer stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Sommer is looking for the KO!

Boozer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sommer sprawls well. Sommer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Boozer gets slowly back to his feet.

Sommer uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Sommer is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Boozer had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Boozer throws a leg kick but Sommer sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Boozer lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Sommer lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Boozer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Boozer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Boozer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Boozer working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Boozer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sommer knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Boozer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Boozer tries for a kimura but Sommer is defending well.

Sommer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boozer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sommer tries to bench press Boozer off him but Boozer keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blayze Sommer dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Boozer wants to slow Sommer down by chopping away at his legs.

Boozer is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Blayze Sommer seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Boozer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sommer moves away.
Boozer fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Sommer scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Boozer doesn't seem bothered though.
Sommer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Boozer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sommer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Boozer circles away quickly and effectively.
Sommer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Boozer on the side of the head.
Boozer needs to keep his hands up - Sommer had a free shot at his head there.
Boozer throws a low kick but Sommer avoids it.
Boozer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A little jabbing left from Sommer on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Sommer cracks Boozer with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Sommer has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Boozer to stand back up!
Blayze Sommer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sommer walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Boozer drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Sommer swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Boozer's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
