Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Blackwell (ranked 5923 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Bryce (ranked 5860 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyle Bryce!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bryce tries a head kick but it misses.
Bryce throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bryce scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.


It looks like Lucas Blackwell has been cut.

Bryce moves into the clinch.

Blackwell pulls guard effortlessly.
Bryce wants to control from the top but Blackwell keeps moving.
Blackwell tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blackwell keeping moving, preventing Bryce from controlling successfully.
Blackwell is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Bryce wants to control from the top but Blackwell keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Bryce closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Bryce tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Blackwell smiles and moves away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Blackwell throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bryce.

Blackwell drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Bryce bucks up and tries to throw Blackwell off but instead Blackwell has got his back!
Bryce is trapped and Blackwell is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Blackwell gets his hands free as Bryce looks to control.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Blackwell.
Blackwell scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Bryce is looking for a way out.

Blackwell missing with strikes.
Blackwell could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Blackwell keeps control of the position as Bryce tries to break free.

Blackwell throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Bryce can't escape the position.
Blackwell scores with punches and elbows.

I really don't envy Bryce right now.
Bryce grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Bryce tries to break free.
Bryce trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Bryce staying busy and making it hard for Blackwell to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Blackwell punishes Bryce with strikes from the back mount.
Bryce tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bryce shoots in looking for a takedown. Blackwell tries to sprawl out of it but Bryce keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Blackwell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Blackwell counters with a big head kick but Bryce shrugs it off.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bryce.
Lucas Blackwell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Bryce.

Blackwell gets tackled into the cage by Bryce. Bryce maintains the clinch.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Blackwell has Bryce pressed against the cage, preventing Bryce from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Blackwell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Blackwell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bryce can do to turn this around?

Bryce drives through and clinches with Blackwell against the cage.

Bryce shoots in looking for a takedown. Blackwell tries to sprawl out of it but Bryce keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Blackwell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Blackwell jumps into guard, dragging Bryce to the mat.

Blackwell throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bryce uses it to pass to side control.
Blackwell tries to bench press Bryce off him but Bryce keeps the position.

Bryce is looking to take a break and control but Blackwell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bryce stands up.
Bryce tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Blackwell gets tackled into the cage by Bryce. Bryce maintains the clinch.
Bryce tries to throw a body punch but Blackwell avoids it by throwing Bryce back against the cage.
Blackwell has Bryce pressed against the cage, preventing Bryce from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Bryce successfully pulls guard.
Blackwell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Blackwell loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Bryce is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bryce seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Blackwell shoots in and drives through. Bryce sprawls well.
Bryce throws a head kick that misses.
Bryce looks for a takedown but Blackwell sprawls well.

Bryce gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Blackwell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bryce is defended easily by Blackwell.

Bryce misses with a takedown attempt - Blackwell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Lucas Blackwell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Bryce.
Bryce is trying hard to land a takedown here. Blackwell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Bryce takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bryce will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bryce shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Blackwell defends it nicely.
Blackwell throws a big counter combination but Bryce scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Bryce is striking from the bottom but Blackwell uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Blackwell lands a nice short elbow.
Bryce is looking to control Blackwell's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bryce avoid being mounted?

Bryce has one foot on Blackwell's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Bryce looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Blackwell is fending him off so far but Bryce persists. Nope, Blackwell circles away and we're back to standing.
Lucas Blackwell is winning the standup battle so far.
Blackwell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bryce tries to avoid it but Blackwell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bryce to the ground. Bryce escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Blackwell is trying to pull guard but Bryce turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Bryce has Blackwell pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Blackwell manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Blackwell breaks the clinch.

Bryce forces Blackwell back against the cage and clinches.
Blackwell drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Blackwell tries a body shot but Bryce blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Blackwell is trying to drag Bryce to the mat but Bryce just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Bryce has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Blackwell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Blackwell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bryce shoots and misses
and Blackwell makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Blackwell shoots in and gets a takedown into Bryce's guard.
Bryce is wriggling around but Blackwell manages to pass to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kyle Bryce comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
