Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jan Kriel (ranked 1391 p4p, 193 weight class) and Mike Diaz (ranked 1726 p4p, 227 weight class). Kriel comes to the cage accompanied by Fokofpolisiekar - Fokofpolisiekar. Diaz is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Not Afraid - Eminem. Mike Diaz told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jan Kriel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Diaz! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A good leg kick by Diaz. Diaz misses with a low kick.
Kriel on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Diaz throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Kriel thows a left - swing and a miss! Diaz throws a combination that misses and Kriel counters with a stiff right hand. Diaz throws a leg kick but Kriel sees it coming and moves out of range. Diaz misses with a looping left. Kriel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Diaz moves away. Kriel steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Diaz. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kriel throws the left hand but Diaz avoids the punch easily. Kriel has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kriel there as he acknowledges the shot. Kriel throws a leg kick which misses Diaz's front leg but catches the back leg as Diaz tries to avoid it. Diaz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Diaz takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Jan Kriel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Diaz has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Kriel looks to throw the jab but Diaz is out of range. Diaz throws a sloppy head kick and Kriel moves out of range easily. An attempted straight right counter from Kriel misses the target. Diaz connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
It looks like Jan Kriel has been cut. A combination from Kriel does no damage. Diaz flicks out a counter leg kick but Kriel steps away. We've been told by Kriel's head coaches at Black City that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kriel checks a leg kick. Diaz uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kriel. Diaz bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Diaz tries to land a leg kick but Kriel saw it coming and moves away.
Diaz listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Kriel throws a hook to the side of Diaz's head but Diaz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kriel on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Diaz. Diaz obviously looking to wear him down.
Kriel checks a leg kick nicely. Diaz throws a right hand that Kriel ducks under and follows up with a left that Kriel also avoids with ease. Diaz cracks Kriel with a right hand to the side of the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kriel slips a jab and a cross from Diaz.
A swing and a miss from Kriel. Kriel misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Diaz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kriel takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Diaz has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Kriel turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Diaz wants to land a leg kick but Kriel is out of range. Diaz scoring well with a low kick there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kriel throws a hook to the side of Diaz's head but Diaz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A telegraphed right hand from Diaz misses the target. Kriel takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Kriel throws a lazy right hand but Diaz sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Diaz throws a nice inside leg kick. Diaz is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Kriel has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Diaz. Diaz misses with a two punch combination.
Diaz lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Diaz misses with a wild combination.
Diaz moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kriel scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Diaz doesn't seem bothered though. Diaz throws a hook but Kriel blocks it. Kriel throwing a counter right hand but Diaz manages to avoid it. Diaz scores with a nice body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Diaz thows a leg kick but Kriel checks it and Kriel counters with a thumping low kick. Kriel chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Diaz can pounce on him.
Diaz wants to clinch up but Kriel keeps it at a distance. Kriel appears to be looking for a big counter. Kriel blocks a head kick by Diaz.
Nice body punch from Kriel. Kriel jabbing away but nothing is landing. A low kick from Diaz misses and Kriel counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Diaz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. An attempted straight right counter from Kriel misses the target. Kriel ducks under a wild hook from Diaz. Kriel is looking to counter with a shot to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Diaz dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jan Kriel's cut. That's time! Kriel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Diaz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Kriel misses with a looping right. Kriel on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Diaz lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Diaz is looking to chop away at Kriel's legs. It looked like Kriel was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Kriel avoids a lazy jab quite easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kriel shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. A countering left hand to the body from Diaz misses. Diaz has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Kriel has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Diaz. Diaz lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Diaz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kriel.

and Kriel counters with a lovely shot to the body. Diaz fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kriel is out of range. A low kick from Diaz is predictable there and Kriel counters with a body kick that stops Diaz in his tracks momentarily. Diaz throws a leg kick letting Kriel counter with a right hand.
It looks like Mike Diaz has been cut. Kriel is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Diaz tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Kriel might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. Kriel thuds a left hand into Diaz's body. Kriel darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Diaz pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Diaz's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kriel under the eye. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kriel connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Diaz momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz chopping away at his opponent's legs.
The fighters circle momentarily. Diaz darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Kriel scores with a jab to the head.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jan Kriel! Jan Kriel decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
