Coming up we have a middleweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Longfellow Deeds (ranked 14610 p4p, 780 weight class) and Andrey Lapis (ranked 4428 p4p, 482 weight class). Lapis comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Once Solemn kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Man, I cannot wait for this one!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 4 losses; Longfellow Deeds! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 2 losses; Andrey Lapis! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Lapis dives in and scores a takedown into Deeds's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Deeds (0) vs (2) Lapis Deeds looking for a sweep. Not yet Deeds, not yet. Lapis has gone for a leg lock! Deeds slips nicely into half guard. Deeds trying to control from Lapis's half guard. Lapis has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Deeds controlling from the top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lapis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lapis! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Deeds (2) vs (6) Lapis Deeds is looking for a sweep. Deeds can't do much from the bottom here. Lapis moves into full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Deeds (2) vs (8) Lapis Lapis has hold of Deeds's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Deeds manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Lapis is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Deeds to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Deeds shrugs it off. Lapis working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Lapis looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Deeds is squirming around, avoiding Lapis's attempts to control the action. Lapis with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
We've been hearing good reports from Deeds's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Lapis sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Lapis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lapis goes for an armbar but Deeds turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Deeds. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Deeds (4) vs (8) Lapis Deeds trying to control but Lapis is working from the bottom. Deeds sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Deeds looking to pass the guard. Deeds won't allow Lapis to sweep him here. Deeds pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lapis is keeping the position for now. Lapis controls Deeds momentarily but Deeds frees himself.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Lapis keeping full guard, as Deeds tries to pass. Lapis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Lapis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lapis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Deeds haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Lapis keeping moving, preventing Deeds from controlling successfully. Lapis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Lapis tries to get to full guard but Deeds has control of the leg. Lapis wants to control but Deeds is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Lapis is refusing to be controlled, as Deeds sits in half guard. Lapis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Lapis is looking to control Deeds's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lapis avoid being mounted? Deeds is looking for a kimura but Lapis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Deeds to get the leverage. Deeds is stalling here. Lapis is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Deeds seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lapis has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Deeds (4) vs (12) Lapis Lapis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Deeds keeps working. Lapis has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Deeds is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Lapis yanks on the arm and Deeds is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Lapis.
