Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ewen Davis (ranked 328 p4p, 50 weight class) and Reno Rawlings (ranked 1136 p4p, 148 weight class). Davis comes to the cage accompanied by Atreyu-Ex's and oh's. Rawlings has chosen Burned as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ewen Davis! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reno Rawlings! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Davis is working for a kimura but Rawlings is defending it quite comfortably.
Davis is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rawlings doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Davis. Rawlings is defending against the submission attempts here by Davis.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rawlings is trying to get back to full guard. Davis working over Rawlings with some ground and pound. Rawlings looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Rawlings gets back to full guard.

Rawlings is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Davis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Davis with a nice head shot there. Davis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rawlings looking to hit a scissor sweep but Davis is one step ahead there.

Davis distracts Rawlings with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Rawlings wants to sweep but no luck. Rawlings has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Davis trying to control but Rawlings is working from the bottom. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Davis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Davis looking to control but instead Rawlings has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rawlings keeps working. Rawlings slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Rawlings circles away from the clinch attempt and Rawlings counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Davis misses with a hook. Rawlings ducked under it nicely. Davis fails to land the takedown. A countering left hand to the body from Rawlings misses. Rawlings closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Davis is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davis actively working from the bottom here. Davis wants to control but Rawlings is keeping busy and won't allow it. Davis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rawlings's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rawlings's back! Davis missing with strikes from the back.

Rawlings defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Rawlings rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Davis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rawlings does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Rawlings taking some punishment here, with Davis in his half guard. Davis seems to be looking for submissions.

Davis wants to free his trapped foot but Rawlings is holding on for dear life with his legs. Davis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rawlings does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Davis keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rawlings's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis cracks Rawlings with a solid left hand. Davis preventing the sweep. Davis working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rawlings's head. Davis passes Rawlings's left leg - he's now in half guard. Davis wants to take a breather but Rawlings is having none of it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Davis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rawlings defends it well. Ewen Davis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Davis is trying to control the action in half guard but Rawlings is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Davis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Davis with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Davis postures up and lands a big shot to Rawlings's brow. Rawlings can't keep his opponent in guard - Davis advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Davis working the head and body with strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rawlings wants to improve his position but Davis is controlling well.
Davis not landing any meaningful shots this time. Rawlings makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rawlings. Davis is working Rawlings over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Rawlings keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully. Davis stands and throws Rawlings's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rawlings is looking to regain half guard here but Davis keeps moving and retains side control. Davis cracks Rawlings with an elbow. That is naaassty. Rawlings tries to bench press Davis off him but Davis keeps the position. Davis trying to control the action but Rawlings is working from the bottom. Davis is putting a hurting on Rawlings here, landing some big shots from side control. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rawlings displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Davis throws out the jab. Davis loads up on a big right hand but Rawlings slips the punch. Davis fails with a takedown attempt. Rawlings let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Rawlings rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Davis moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Davis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rawlings paws at him with a jab and circles away. A cross from Davis lands. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davis slips under a jab from Rawlings. Nice straight punches there by Rawlings. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Rawlings. Ewen Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rawlings avoids the head kick by Davis.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rawlings scores with a jab to the body. Davis throws a hook to the side of Rawlings's head but Rawlings sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Rawlings with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Davis to score with a decent uppercut. Davis clinches. Davis struggles to land a body shot inside as Rawlings controls his hands.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! What's Davis going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle. Rawlings misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Rawlings lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Davis down.

Rawlings creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Davis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Reno Rawlings dominated that fourth round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Nice sprawl there from Rawlings as Davis shoots in. Davis misses with an uppercut. Davis tries for a takedown but Rawlings sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Rawlings throws out a counter right but Davis avoids it with no problem. Rawlings stuffs the takedown attempt from Davis. Davis gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ewen Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Davis uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rawlings has time to react. Davis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rawlings swats him away and circles back towards the center. Rawlings is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davis cracks a nice hook into Rawlings's ribs. Davis fails with an attempt to clinch.

My spies in IC&E Academy inform me that Rawlings has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Davis is working to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Reno Rawlings comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Davis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
