Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zbychu Kowalski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Madeya Wonder!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kowalski drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kowalski trying to control the position from guard on top but Wonder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kowalski wants to stand but Wonder is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wonder tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wonder wants to get back to his feet but Kowalski is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Wonder looking for a sweep. Not yet Wonder, not yet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wonder throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kowalski sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kowalski takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kowalski slips under a jab.
Kowalski connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wonder's hands.


It looks like Madeya Wonder has been cut.

Kowalski bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kowalski swats away the attempt to clinch by Wonder.
Madeya Wonder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Kowalski with that takedown attempt.
Wonder pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kowalski ducks under a wild hook from Wonder.
Wonder wants to clinch.
A swing and a miss from Wonder.
Wonder tries to close the distance and clinch but Kowalski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kowalski walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Wonder scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Kowalski tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The fighters circling - Wonder throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Wonder tries to close the distance and clinch but Kowalski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kowalski throws a sloppy head kick and Wonder moves out of range easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
No joy there for Wonder, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wonder looks gassed!
Wonder lands a jab.
Kowalski shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wonder pinned against the cage. Wonder gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wonder closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Kowalski throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Kowalski shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wonder's guard.
Kowalski stands and throws Wonder's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Wonder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kowalski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kowalski works to advance to full mount. Wonder defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Kowalski trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kowalski manages to capitalize on a mistake by Wonder to take his back!

Wonder is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Kowalski is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Wonder defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Wonder breaks Kowalski's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Wonder looking to pass the guard.
Wonder missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Kowalski looking for a sweep. Not yet Kowalski, not yet.
Kowalski is controlling Wonder's posture.
Wonder should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Wonder makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kowalski is on top in guard.
Wonder looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kowalski is one step ahead there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kowalski passes Wonder's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Kowalski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kowalski closes the distance and clinches up with Wonder, looking for a takedown. Kowalski pushes Wonder against the cage but Wonder circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Wonder misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wonder misses the jab.
Wonder throws out a loose jab but Kowalski uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wonder throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Wonder closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wonder lands in his opponent's guard.
Wonder throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kowalski works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Kowalski looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Wonder preventing the sweep.
Wonder working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Wonder stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kowalski swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wonder throws and elbow that misses. Kowalski uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wonder's guard. Nice move by Kowalski!

Wonder thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Wonder striking off his back but it's not causing Kowalski any problems.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kowalski sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wonder's guard.
Wonder looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kowalski is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Kowalski is working for a kimura but Wonder is defending it quite comfortably.
Wonder tries to roll over but Kowalski keeps him under control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kowalski blocks the strikes from Wonder.
Kowalski moves into full mount! Wonder won't be happy about that!

Kowalski with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Wonder is in all sorts of trouble here.
Wonder is squirming around, avoiding Kowalski's attempts to control the action.
Wonder is looking to improve his position but Kowalski isn't that keen on the idea.

Zbychu Kowalski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kowalski has hold of Wonder's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Wonder manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Wonder wants to hold on but Kowalski pushes him away.
Wonder can't escape the position.

Kowalski looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Wonder is desperately trying to improve his position but Kowalski has a good base and remains in mount.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wonder is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kowalski cracks Wonder with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Wonder is looking to improve his position but Kowalski isn't that keen on the idea.
Kowalski can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wonder is looking to escape.

Wonder tries to clinch up.
Kowalski swats away the attempt to clinch by Wonder.
Wonder swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Wonder fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kowalski misses with a head kick.
Kowalski thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Wonder if he has to take too many more of those.

Kowalski rushes Wonder and presses him up against the cage.

Kowalski manages to pull guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kowalski controls Wonder momentarily but Wonder frees himself.
Kowalski seems keen to control Wonder's posture.

Wonder has hold of Kowalski's hands but Kowalski slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kowalski prevents Wonder from improving his position.
Kowalski wants to stand but Wonder has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Wonder is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kowalski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wonder keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fighters are battling for position here. Wonder manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Madeya Wonder has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Zbychu Kowalski is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
