Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dewayne Sykes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lioran Janvokski! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Janvokski pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Sykes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Sykes fails to pull guard.
Janvokski has hold of one of Sykes's legs. Sykes is fighting the takedown attempt but Janvokski gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Sykes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Janvokski is one step ahead there. Janvokski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sykes swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sykes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Janvokski's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sykes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Janvokski preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Sykes wants to control from the top but Janvokski keeps moving. Janvokski is controlling Sykes's posture. Sykes gets to his feet - Janvokski follows without any prompting. Janvokski bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Sykes struggling a bit here. Sykes gets back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Janvokski is looking to pass Sykes's guard but actually Sykes recovers to full guard. Janvokski engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Let's hope that Janvokski has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Sykes is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Janvokski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Janvokski stands and throws Sykes's legs to the side, diving into side control. Sykes trying to remain calm as Janvokski controls from the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Janvokski passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Sykes! Janvokski looking to control and managing it successfully. Janvokski throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Janvokski sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Janvokski punching from mount but Sykes doing a good job of avoiding damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sykes keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Janvokski takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sykes enables Janvokski to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sykes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Sykes pushes Janvokski off and gets back to his feet.
Sykes tries to sprawl but Janvokski drives through with a takedown into half guard. Janvokski has been the more effective fighter overall so far. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Janvokski looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Janvokski prevents Sykes from standing back up.

Sykes throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Janvokski instigates a clinch. Janvokski has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sykes uses from the top position. Sykes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Janvokski trying to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Sykes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Janvokski works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Sykes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Sykes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Janvokski avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Janvokski throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sykes content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Sykes wants to control from the top but Janvokski keeps moving. Sykes prevents Janvokski from getting back to his feet.

Janvokski goes for an armbar but Sykes turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Sykes. Janvokski is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Sykes misses with a knee strike.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dewayne Sykes will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Janvokski persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Sykes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Janvokski doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Janvokski manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Janvokski loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Janvokski avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

And that's the end of the fight! Lioran Janvokski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Janvokski has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
