The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko throws a lazy right hand but Ellis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A little jabbing left from Ellis on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ellis misses with a right hand
and Emelianenko counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Ellis throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Emelianenko takes one on the chin but keeps coming.


It looks like Gattsu Emelianenko has been cut.
Ellis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ellis looks to throw the jab but Emelianenko is out of range.
Emelianenko fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ellis manages to avoid it.
Ellis connects with a solid leg kick.
Ellis tries to clinch up
letting Emelianenko counter with a right hand.
Marv Ellis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ellis throws a combination that misses
and Emelianenko counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Emelianenko ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Emelianenko lands a nice shot that snaps Ellis's head back.

Ellis drops Emelianenko with a left right combo! Ellis follows him down to the ground into side control.

Emelianenko really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Ellis.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Emelianenko keeps control of the position easily here as Ellis tries to buck him off.
Ellis rolls, trying to escape but Emelianenko keeps control of the position.
Emelianenko slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Emelianenko's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That was a close round but I would say that Gattsu Emelianenko will probably get the nod.

and Emelianenko counters with a huge left! Ellis is in big trouble! He's backing up but Emelianenko isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Ellis from any more damage. A dominating finish by Emelianenko!
