Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Connor! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Smeer! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smeer scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Connor trying to hold on to Smeer's head to control him but Smeer postures up.
Connor wants to get back to full guard. Connor is working hard here to advance position. Smeer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Connor doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smeer. Smeer is looking to advance position but Connor won't allow it. Smeer is working for a kimura but Connor is defending it quite comfortably.
Connor looking for submissions off his back. Smeer should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Smeer is thwarting Connor's attempts to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Connor blocking the ground and pound attempt from Smeer. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smeer wants to pass to mount but Connor is defending the position. Connor taking some punishment here, with Smeer in his half guard. Smeer sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Connor defending well though. Connor looking for submissions off his back. Connor tries to roll over but Smeer keeps him under control. Connor is breathing heavily.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Connor misses with a takedown and Smeer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Connor won't be happy with that. Connor is looking for a sweep. Smeer is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Connor has escaped the position, nice work there. Smeer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Connor manages to get back to half guard. Smeer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Smeer. Smeer seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Connor is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
