Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 2170 p4p, 272 weight class) and Trevor Lawson (ranked 1861 p4p, 243 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Jiu Jitsu by Smoke Serpent. Lawson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Wait and Bleed by Slipknot. Trevor Lawson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Royce Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trevor Lawson! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lawson takes a swing at Gracie's ribcage but misses. Lawson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Lawson lands a jab. Gracie looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Lawson misses with a wild body shot. Gracie throws a one two combo.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Lawson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gracie sees it coming and avoids it easily. Gracie keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lawson. Lawson throws a series of punches but Gracie avoids them all with ease. Lawson throws a right hand that misses
and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lawson won't be happy with that. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gracie scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Lawson to see if he's OK. Lawson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nice strikes from Gracie there. Lawson looking for submissions off his back. Gracie is looking for a kimura here.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie wants to work for an arm triangle but Lawson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are battling for position here. Lawson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Gracie stands up over Lawson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gracie throws a big elbow that misses. Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lawson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gracie forces his way into half guard. Gracie is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lawson has managed to free his arm - good work. Gracie seems to be looking for submissions.

Gracie in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gracie passes easily into side control. Nice work. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Gracie misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Gracie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lawson has escaped the position, nice work there. Lawson manages to get back to half guard. Lawson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lawson. Gracie throws a big right hand that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Gracie passes Lawson's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Lawson is looking to improve his position.
Gracie looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Gracie lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Lawson told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Gracie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lawson sees it coming and defends easily. Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Lawson defends the submission attempt. Lawson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gracie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gracie's back!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lawson is hanging on to Gracie's back as he tries to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie manages to reverse the position and now he's in Lawson's guard. Nice work there by Gracie.
Lawson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gracie is aware though and is defending well. Lawson wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment. Lawson keeps trying to improve his position. Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Lawson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Lawson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lawson manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Lawson's guard. Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Royce Gracie dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Lawson moves into range and connects with a jab. Gracie uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lawson. Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with Lawson, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes Lawson against the cage but Lawson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Gracie moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Gracie keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lawson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gracie dives in and grabs Lawson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lawson pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out. Gracie takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lawson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gracie's head backwards. Gracie wants to clinch. It seemed like Lawson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. Lawson tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lawson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Lawson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Royce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Gracie stopping the sweep attempt from Lawson. Lawson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Lawson looking for a guillotine here but Gracie defends easily.
Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Royce Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lawson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gracie manages to get himself to full guard.

Lawson distracts Gracie with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Lawson throws a big right hand that misses. Gracie is trying to keep Lawson in close.

Lawson punishing his opponent with strikes. Gracie is trying desperately to improve position. Lawson raining down shots from the mount! Lawson looking to finish Gracie with some ground and pound. This is bad for Gracie!
Gracie is rocked! Gracie tries to get back to half guard but can't. Oh Gracie is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lawson postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Gracie bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Lawson and the fight is over!
